Astute Medical, Inc. is a product oriented diagnostics company dedicated to improving the diagnosis of high-risk medical conditions through the identification and validation of protein biomarkers that can serve as the basis for novel in vitro diagnostic tests.
Astute Medical, Inc. is seeking a motivated self-starter who will lead the development and qualification of instrumentation used in the manufacture and utilization of Astute Medical products. The position will be the technical liaison with outside vendors, and will be responsible for enhancements to the Astute 140TM Meter and resolving technical issues that may arise in its manufacture and field use.
Job Summary:
Technical lead on the design team developing new products and product enhancements. Provide design inputs on system design related to electronic/optical measurements.
Ensure that designs and processes are compatible for manufacturing. Maintain design documentation in accordance with established procedures.
Develop calibration methodologies and procedures that that insure proper calibration of instruments.
Responsible for R&D to establishing feasibility for product enhancements, new detection systems, new algorithms.
Support new development through analytical troubleshooting of electronic components and circuit designs, especially related to optical detection.
Acquire data, interpret results, draw conclusions, identify inconsistent results and propose design changes based on the data.
Utilize metrology tools such as, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, optical power meters, spectrum analyzers, and imaging systems.
Work with other engineers and scientists to determine desired outcomes for future diagnostic measurements.
Manage and mentor other team members.
Requirements:
Ph.D. preferred in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field, with 7+ years of related experience.
Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects effectively and efficiently and be accurate, attentive to details, creative and innovative.
Able to work in a start-up environment with constantly shifting priorities and ability to exercise independent judgment in solving complex problems and work with minimal supervision.
Well-developed technical writing, documentation, and verbal communication skills.
Product development/support experience with an electronics or optoelectronics design in a design control environment, preferably with IVD?s
Understanding of cGMP?s (current Good Manufacturing Practices), ISO:9000, ISO:13485, or Medical Device environments is preferred.
Experience working with Scientists and Engineers to build optical detection systems.
Proficient computer skills and great working knowledge of Microsoft Office ? EXCEL.
Mathematical skills sufficient to model, analyze, design and develop electrical and electronic projects.
Experience in printed circuit board design, assembly, and test procedures in compliance with FDA, ROHS, and etc. is desirable knowledge.
Hands-on technical background in digital and analog design with embedded microprocessors and FPGAs is a plus.
