Mindjet, the world?s leading provider of collaborative work management software, is looking for a design leader to fill the role of Principal Interaction Designer to design the next generation of information mapping products. Working in close collaboration with product management, engineering and product marketing as well as with user researchers and usability specialists from the User Experience Team, the designer will develop a strategic product vision to leverage Mindjet?s core visualization strength and successfully bring it to new markets.RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Develop and advocate a long-term conceptual product vision, which will inform future product requirements
? Contribute to product requirements definition by participating in early stage user research
? Translate requirements into prototypes and design specifications for engineering, QA, and documentation.
? Closely monitor implementation and continue design work as needed through release, and beyond.
? Lead cross-functional collaboration activities with engineering, product management and other functions
? Participate in defining corporate design standards and processes as well as champion user-centered design.
? Passion for making great products.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
? Minimum 10 years experience in interaction design.
? M.A./M.S. in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Human Factors, or related discipline
? Demonstrated skill in developing concepts, leading design, and documenting conceptual models and user interfaces.
? Ability to work on problems of complex and diverse scope, and to identify creative alternatives
? Experience in applying user research, user needs validation and usability evaluation
? Strong project management skills, including juggling multiple projects
? Effective in communicating conceptual ideas, detailed designs, and design rationale both verbally and visually
? Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in diverse, cross-departmental teams
? Experience designing for a broad set of UI platforms including web, desktop and mobile
? Experience with concept visualization in general and mind mapping in particular is a plus.
This role requires daily physical presence at Mindjet?s headquarters in San Francisco along the scenic Embarcadero waterfront, within Levi Plaza, a short walk from the Ferry Building and Coit Tower.
