POSITION SUMMARY:
Working under minimal supervision the Principal Network Engineer/Architect produces and implements technically excellent solutions architecture, technical direction, and related frameworks and hosted solutions to meet business needs. They plan, designs, engineer, and troubleshoot complex data and voice infrastructures; create detailed project scopes and implementation plans; produce technical and business case documentation; help guide and influence team members on technology and technical direction; and establish and facilitate relationships with technology vendors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Produces technically excellent solutions architecture that is aligned to business needs and direction.
Designs and engineers (implements) corporate infrastructure for both operations and SaaS offering
Provides lead engineering and support services for Corporate infrastructure and SaaS production environment
Provides technical direction, frameworks, project scopes, and implementation plan to meet business needs.
Produces technical (e.g. network diagrams) and business documentation (e.g. use case scenarios) associated with the solutions as well as presentations for executive review and consideration.
Plans, designs, and monitors the performance of hosted environments as well as internal infrastructures.
Plays a lead role in defining the company?s Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies.
Liaise with management, engineering, software development and support teams and guides/influences fellow team members and business colleagues on technology matters.
Plays a key role in the implantation and maintenance of several corporate applications (e.g. SharePoint)
Manage relationships with vendors that provide technology to the business
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, MIS or other related discipline plus 6-10 years of progressive technology experience or equivalent is required. Relevant industry certification (i.e. Cisco CCIE/CCNP, CISSP, etc.) is/are desired.
5 years? experience working with Windows or Unix Systems as an administrator
Demonstrated experience in the design and management of data centers
Expert level knowledge of VMware and Vcenter5
Experience with EMC Remote Protection Suite, Data Domain and storage solutions (i.e. VNX, VNXE module).
Experience with change management protocols for production environments.
Experience administering and implementing telecommunications systems
Ability to negotiate technology issues while building solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as solid project management skills are required. The ability to develop and deliver effective presentations is strongly desired.
Extensive knowledge of a wide variety network solutions, standards and protocols as well as network management, engineering, and operative systems is a must.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to justify direction and decisions in business terms in a manner that is clear, concise, and understandable to stakeholders
Other: Demonstrate expert knowledge of technologies such as:
OSPF, BGP, EIGRP and RIP
Expert knowledge of standard and emerging layer 2 technologies such as STP, MPLS, VPNs, Ethernet, DSL and Frame Relay
WAN Acceleration knowledge and skills
