AngioScore?s Scoring Balloon Catheter significantly alters the landscape for treating both peripheral arterial disease and coronary artery disease.
Location and Reporting Relationship:
AngioScore is based in Fremont, California. The position reports to the Manager of Research and Development and will work closely with team members from R&D, Manufacturing Operations, QA, and Regulatory Compliance.
Job Description:
This individual will collaborate with internal and external resources to develop and lead new product development projects and/or new applications of existing products and technologies for the prevention, treatment, and cure of coronary and peripheral diseases. Plan, execute, and manage design and development of new products. Manage subordinate staff assigned to development project(s). Generate and document invention disclosures to secure and improve the company?s IP position. Work with external thought leaders and internal advisors to determine device requirements and develop prototypes through proof of concept. Work within a cross-functional group to transfer projects to Manufacturing. Champion new ideas that influence peers and senior management.Perform other duties to support the R&D Department and efforts as needed.
Required Attributes:
Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field toward product, process, and technology development and evaluation.
Ability to work effectively with external thought leaders in the medical and academic communities.
Ability to translate concepts into working prototypes and conduct appropriate feasibility studies to establish ?proof of concept.?
Understand product development, manufacturing, and demonstrate the ability to effectively transfer concepts to saleable products.
Ability to conceive and appropriately document inventions.
Exceptional critical thinking/problem solving/decision-making skills.
A high degree of initiative and motivation with the ability to perform under pressure and in a very dynamic environment.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player who works well in a collegial environment.
Understanding of regulatory, clinical, quality assurance, manufacturing, and distribution processes in the medical device industry.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience Requirements:
10+ years in product development in the medical device industry, preferably developing stents, balloons, and catheters. Hands-on experience designing and developing angioplasty catheters strongly preferred.
