Principal Systems Engineer Damballa

The Principal Systems Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of Damballa's back-office systems, including those used by the company's threat researchers and automated processes that fuel the company's criminal breach detection and termination technologies. These systems include large scale collections of raw data from a variety of sources, malware analysis systems, honeypots, and data warehouses. The principal systems engineer will be the primary contact for projects and requests to expand, enhance, and improve these systems and tools.Job Responsibilities:
Design and implement:
- A NoSQL system for storing our current data and all new data
- How data feeds go into our systems
- How automated and manual content production processes will work
- How content is extracted for distribution to field devices
- Infrastructure/tools for data-driven reporting
Engage with internal teams to:
- Validate requests for new projects / enhancements
- Clarify requirements
- Make high level design recommendations, consulting with other principal engineers
- Estimate implementation costs and effort
Required Skills:
- Architect/deploy/maintain a cloud-based infrastructure for large-scale data storage and processing
- Expertise in multiple programming languages, such as Python, Ruby, Java
- Deep experience with data management - database systems (PostgreSQL) and expert-level SQL skills
- Prior experience with large-scale data storage/processing systems (hadoop, cassandra, etc) is a huge plus
Education:
- BS in Computer Science or similar field required, MS preferred
