The role of Print Ops Specialist is to execute the day-to-day functions within Blurb?s print operation. Blurb has established an industry-leading network of third party print providers who are responsible for the production of our end product. This role will function as the liaison between internal stakeholders in Operations and Sales and their counterparts at each production facility within the network. The Print Ops Specialist will ensure the Blurb Print Network continues to operate as efficiently as possible while consistently producing the highest quality books across the world.
Operational sales support for the Blurb Sales Team
Serve as primary point of contact for Print Network for Sales orders
Request estimates for all non-template based pricing from digital print network and offset print partners (print + ship, schedules)
Manage overall global production workflow for offset work, including approval of alternate materials on a job-by-job basis
Track and reconcile sales estimates against cost
Monitor progress of orders in process
Review proofs for accuracy and potential issues in production, including approving internal proofs for key orders
Conduct weekly calls with day-to-day POC at each print partner location to review current projects, SLA and quality
Responsible for weekly agenda, notes and follow-up with internal and external resources, including a review of all quality reports with print partners
Maintain all documentation of network equipment and material standards
Generate Weekly Defect Report and supporting analysis based on quality test and audit reports
Serve as primary internal point of contact for Blurb Customer Support
Manage Printer Invoice reconciliation
Responsible for compilation and distribution of monthly scorecards
Participate and present metrics in Quarterly Business Reviews with Print Partners
Oversee and support internal quality initiatives and audits
Manage Manufacturing Defect Credit process
Manage and distribute contractual monthly scorecards to each print partner
Facilitate rush, VIP and marketing orders through production by working with necessary print partners to ensure timelines and quality are met
5+ years of print experience
3-5 years of customer support experience in the print industry
Knowledge of both digital and offset print manufacturing required
Bachelor?s Degree, Graphic Communications or similar preferred
Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal
Sound understanding of print and book quality
Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to apply print-industry knowledge to create and execute quality initiatives
Ability to manage and lead projects
Basic knowledge of XML a plus
