Process Development Technician
The Process Development Technician will assist in optimization of existing prototype material processes and assist in the scale up of solids blending, coating, liquid/solid reaction processes as well as battery assembly. The Process Development Technician will be responsible for operating all piloting equipment and maintaining neat and orderly notes and data on all processes. This role also supports Process (Development) Engineering in determining the overall equipment effectiveness, material traceability, and insuring proper documentation of work instructions and process parameters.
The Process Development Technician will work under the Process Development and Equipment
Utilization Manager and work with Manufacturing, Technical Engineering, Maintenance, R&D and
Facilities to achieve objectives as a team member and individual technical contributor.
Essential Job Functions:
? Assist the development of Piloting scale chemical,mixing, and assembly processes.
? Assist in the transition of Piloting processes into manufacturing.
? Interface with other R&D and ETO staff to understand at a relevant and fundamental level,
materials phenomena, properties, performance ranges as they relate to performance targets.
? Conduct test validation plans to qualify new or improved materials, processes, equipment or
? Execute controlled experiments to address yield, quality and equipment issues.
? Support established manufacturing and piloting processes and equipment.
? Complete basic mathematical and statical calculations such as OEE, Cpk, and SPC.
? Interpret and assist in developing drawings and specifications that will become final
engineering specifications in the ERP system.
? Demonstrate safety leadership in day to day activities
? Participate in equipment and process audits
? Assist as necessary in implementing environmental improvement initiatives
? Educate and train new operators and technicians to facilitate understanding of new or modified
processes and/or equipment.
? Assist in the assignment and scheduling of PWRs
? Generate simple to complex reports detailing pertinent results
? All other duties as assigned
? Associates Degree with 2-4 years of experience in a pilot, R&D or manufacturing environment.
? Ability to learn and perform basic to complex mathematical and statistical calculations.
? Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to assist in the solving of complex
? Ability to work in an ever-
changing environment with multiple processes.
? Good verbal, written, computer and organizational skills.
? Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented.
? Must be able to lift 50lbs. Ability to operate a forklift a plus
? Experience using Microsoft Office, and Google Drive a plus
? Experience using JMP, Minitab a plus
