Amyris is seeking an experienced Process Engineering Manager to lead a team in the design, engineering, and operations support of Amyris? manufacturing facilities in the United States and Brazil. The ideal candidate will have a strong base of experience in process development, engineering, scale-up, and manufacturing in the biotechnology or chemical process industries. The process engineering team?s activities will range from detailed mass and energy balance development to process data collection and analysis to on-site troubleshooting and process optimization ? all in pursuit of stable, reliable, low cost operations at our manufacturing sites. Working safely will always be the top priority for the person in this position.
Lead and manage process engineering team in the design, engineering, and support of Amyris? manufacturing processes and facilities
Ensure that facilities are designed, built, operated, and perform in-line with expectations and manufacturing targets
Serve as critical interface between process development and manufacturing sites, supporting tech transfer and implementation of new processes
Development and maintenance of mass and energy balances, PFD?s, P&ID?s
Equipment design, specification, and selection
Design and development of control system strategies
Benchmarking, debottlenecking, optimization, and troubleshooting of processes and equipment
Data analysis, tracking, and storage
Evaluation of process economics
Travel as required to work with our engineering partners and our Brazil based team to design and build facilities
Develop strong working relationships and work collaboratively across all areas of Amyris
Take on new responsibilities and leadership roles as required in achieving company objectives
Skills and requirements:
B.S./M.S. Chemical Engineer or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous experience managing technical personnel preferred.
Ability to travel in support of domestic and international projects is required
Ability to speak (or learn) Portuguese or other foreign languages is a plus but not required
