PROCESS PLANTS GROUP LEADER Voltaix
Process Plants Group (PPG) engages in technical projects to design, construct and commission chemical process plants, increasing capacity of existing plants or otherwise improving safety, productivity and/or quality of commercial products. The projects can range from large capital projects (eg. construction of new green field or brown field chemical process plants) to small facilities/process improvement projects. This group closely works with the Process Development Group and the Process Engineering Group to ensure that the project is executed in a seamless manner as the project/process is advanced from concept to commercialization stage.
He/She will lead a multi-disciplinary team of process, mechanical, controls and instrumentation engineers who work on specific technical projects to design, construct and commission new plants, increase capacity of existing plants or otherwise improve safety, productivity and/or quality of commercial products. He/She ensures that group engineering efforts are appropriate to the level of detail required for each stage of a project- from initial budgetary cost estimation (Class 5 estimation) stage to final implementation stage (Class 1 estimation). The Process Engineering Group leader ensures that team deliverables are efficiently executed to meet department and customer requirements. He/she is responsible for the safety of subordinates and ensuring that the designs and improvements developed by the group are safe and effective. Additionally he/she ensures that all work products meet widely-accepted industry standards and various regulatory requirements. He/she establishes and tracks metrics to ensure continual improvement of team performance in key areas, in-line with company objectives.
The PPG Leader should possess more than 15 years of relevant chemical process industry experience and a minimum of BS in Chemical Engineering. An advanced degree or Professional Engineers License (PE) will be considered a plus. This position requires a very strong background in chemical process design, including process simulation experience (for e.g, CHEMCAD, Aspen etc.) and plant construction management, commissioning and start-up. A demonstrated experience in leading and managing large capital projects ( > $ 1 MM ) following established project management principles (for e.g, PEMBOK guidelines) is highly desired. In addition, knowledge and experience in various codes and standards (eg. NFPA, OSHA, API, ASME, CGA, ISA, UBC, IBC etc) as applicable to chemical process plants, regulatory requirements (for e.g, PSM, RMP etc.) and risk evaluation methods (for e.g, HAZOP, LOPA etc.) is highly desired.
