Freescale?s Analog & Sensor Group (ASG) provides a full portfolio of innovative platform solutions that combine best-in-class software, hardware, support and manufacturing targeted at the automotive, consumer, wireless device, industrial and networking markets. On the consumer side, ASG provides highly integrated power management ICs for portable communications and computing products such as tablets, slates, e-readers and netbooks.
This position reports to the Analog Drivers Business Powertrain Product Manager. The Analog Drivers business unit provides highly integrated and precision products in Powertrain applications such as engine management control systems, electronic transmission control systems, and small engine electronic fuel injection (EFI) solutions.
The Analog Product Definer and System Architect will:
Work with customers, field sales team, applications engineers, design engineers and the product line manager to identify, specify and propose new differentiating analog products for Powertrain applications.
Collect, interpret, and synthesize the received information in the form of product definition that addresses application requirements.
Build up and articulate the technical value proposition by assessing the offering of our competition.
Collaborate with the design, process, and test engineering teams to optimize product costs per feature selections and performance criteria.
Negotiate the product specification details with the customers, documenting the linkage between performance criteria, verification methods, and results.
Identify critical intellectual property (IP) necessary to fuel a successful product roadmap.
Define collateral and document attributes of hardware, PC-based GUI, and system-level interfaces to support the product for customers.
MS in electrical or electronics engineering
10+ years of technical analog experience with emphasis in IC design, applications support, systems engineering and product definition
Experience with powertrain, engine control, and transmission control system electronics
Proficiency with defining semiconductor products including performance details such as signal conditioning, offset and linearity correction, noise and overload tolerances, stability, filter, power consumption, and environmental robustness attributes
Proficiency with system-level interfacing, power supplies and power mode controls, wire-line data interfaces such as SPI, CAN, LIN, USB, etc.
Experience with EMC/EMI mitigation techniques, process and documentation requirements of AEC-Q100 qualification, and ISO-26262 / IEC-61508 functional safety standards
Familiarity with CAE tools to capture PCB designs, create and release artwork, parts procurement, and initial sample assembly
Excellent communication skills are essential with the ability to fluently discuss technical details with customer hardware engineers and internal IC designers as well as propose new products concepts to senior management.
Significant travel to customers and trade shows around the world is required (15% of time).
