This is an exciting opportunity in our Athens, Ohio facility supporting new product design. The Product Development Engineer is responsible for system level design of new products, assay integration, technology transfer, and validation activities.
Key activities include:
Works with R&D Scientists to develop, automate, optimize and integrate diagnostic assays with instrumentation.
Supports the introduction of new core competencies and strives to ensure an optimized and efficient manufacturing organization.
Participates in design, product development and validation, creation and implementation of documentation, and training of personnel.
Designs and develops new products for internal or external manufacturing.
Provides guidance to R&D as needed to prevent implementation of designs that do not meet manufacturing standards.
Actively participates on design teams, understands R&D goals and timelines, and provides leadership to ensure product launch success.
Maintains project documentation including detailed and organized notebook records.
Bachelor's Degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical, Electrical, or System Engineering and/or 7+ years of equivalent experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical or medical device environment
Electromechanical experience a plus
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Experience working with algorithms and mathematical analysis
Good organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks
Experience in product development and experimental design
Ability to work independently and within cross functional teams
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Must exhibit professionalism, confidence, maturity, desire to succeed, proactive, and self-motivated
Strong knowledge of relevant analytical tools
Ability to participate in planning and managing projects
Working knowledge of product development tools and processes (e.g Design Input, Design Output, Verification and Validation, Product Risk Management)
Knowledge of related quality systems regulations and processes
Appropriate computer skills (e-mail, word processing, statistical, spreadsheet and graphing software)
