Product Development Manager Connecture
General Summary:
The Product Development Manager is part of our Product team that develops our core software product. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide leadership to the technical leads and development teams in the Product organization. This includes planning and estimating work, release management, coordinating development activities among multiple work streams, ensuring quality, and delivering on time software releases.
The Product Development Manager will report to a Director of Product Development. Our Product development teams work in an agile development lifecycle. The Product organization includes disciplines of user experience, product management, business analysis, development, and quality assurance. The Product Development Manager will work closely with other members of the Product organization to manage product releases and collaborate on our product roadmap.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provides Leadership for multiple development teams from design through software release.
Keeps manager/director well informed of status of development effort and serves as liaison between development staff and project management.
Easily recognizes system deficiencies and implements effective solutions.
Responsible for accurate development estimates for project work.
Creates and executes development plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Manages the tech lead(s) to own the development lifecycle and is responsible for managing all technical aspects throughout the project including performance, quality, and risk.
Ensure the developers consistently deliver high-quality software product.
Collaborate with QA to resolve bugs, performance issues, and gaps in requirements.
Collaborate with other development teams to ensure product.
Collaborate with Platform / Architecture team to ensure products are designed within architectural guidelines.
Management of resources; coordinate administration of project reviews, annual reviews, and employee promotion and compensation.
Required Skills:
8+ years experience managing software development
Product development experience
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Technical experience in Java a plus
Successful track record of leadership of large teams
Able to work independently with little supervision
Extensive knowledge in software design standards and overall software architecture.
Develops and implements new methodologies and analyses to drive actionable results
Effectively prioritizes opportunities and develops strategies/plans to achieve corporate objectives
Demonstrates excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills: can operate successfully within cross-functional teams at all levels of the company
Strong oral, written and formal presentation skills including ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way
Excellent influencing skills at all levels and ability to develop and maintain good relationships
Education:
Bachelor's degree (CS, EE, or Math preferred) or equivalent work experience.
