I want it!In Product Management, we're responsible for driving the design and development of the core product in a way that will change the way the world works with data. We are the voice of the customer and the market. We focus specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting and tailoring our solutions to all the markets where Splunk does business.
Depending on your background and experience, you will be working on a project in one of the following project areas:
SupportabilityConduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of support cases, looking for the problems
within the problems--finding patterns in cases that point to feature opportunities to improve the Splunk admin user experience. These may include new or extended product self-diagnostic, introspection and reporting capabilities that enable Splunk administrators to pro-actively address potential issues with their Splunk installation, improve time to resolution for support issues, and decrease the the overall total cost of ownership of Splunk.
Pricing and PackagingConduct competitive street price and profitability comparisons against products with different pricing models to evaluate our relative position. Perform financial analysis of various alternatives to the daily-indexed-volume licensing model for potential new product offerings.
User ExperienceHelp drive improvements to the user experience for people who have just downloaded Splunk, or are just getting started with it. This project includes recruiting and observing new users for participation in user studies, creating storyboards, turning the storyboards into prototypes and then testing prototypes, and putting all of these elements together to developing a working prototype of an app or module that can be integrated into the core product.

- Understand and analyze customer and market needs
- Help to define strategy
- Work with world-class engineers to build and launch new features
Requirements: I've already done that or have that!Specific requirements vary by project area and may include:
- Currently pursuing a BA/BS or MA/MS/MBA or PhD in a field relevant or related to technology (CS, EE, Applied Mathematics, Psychology, Business Administration, Marketing, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Experience with data: understanding it, collecting it, analyzing it, and presenting it
- Experience coding for the Web, using CSS, HTML and JavaScript
- Experience in systems software or algorithms
- Experience with financial modeling and analysis
