Job Description
Product Management at Silver Spring Networks is expected to lead the creation of business strategy, influence our vision and drive product development working with visionaries in engineering and in the customer community to create winning offerings which encompass software, networking, hardware, firmware and services. The group is expected to drive the strategic and tactical product direction. Our product managers are ideally a unique combination of business savvy coupled with technical background and able to understand market dynamics, especially when it comes to customer problems and competitive offerings. Product Management typically paints the vision for joint solutions with prospective customers, anticipates market trends, works to define product capabilities, educates sales teams on the opportunity and approach to the market, and evangelizes in order to build our business. We have opportunities for all levels of product management expertise from individual contributors to Directors encompassing product management in grid reliability, smart grid software solutions, and network management technologies.
Product Management interacts with customers, Product Marketing, Sales, and Engineering, as well as Services and Support to educate, inspire and drive development with our internal teams on these joint solutions. Some of the skills you?ll need include?
5 -10+ years of experience in Product Management or similar business management functions, and relevant market experience.
Proven track record of building businesses from early stages into market leadership.
Experience in one or more areas: Energy and utility industry, grid reliability, software as a service, networking products, complex products involving software, hardware and firmware, RF products.
The ability to anticipate the direction of the market, develop a vision for the solution and build a roadmap to deliver.
Demonstrate passion for great people and engineers, and ability to lead strong teams to ambitious goals.
Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of regular interface with senior leaders inside and outside the company.
Embrace change and ambiguity - responds well to changing situations.
Strong evangelist and spokesperson for the products and the company.
Demonstrated track record of successfully working with the sales force to close and support large complex customers.
Results-oriented - able to focus cross-functional teams on achieving common goals, manage competing priorities, and balance strategy and attention to detail.
Bachelor's degree is required. MBA is preferred.
