The API Product Manager is responsible for a product that enables effective adaptive learning experiences in partner digital learning applications. This person has built successful commercial APIs and understands the intersection of ease of use for developers and overarching business focus. The Product Manager will work directly for the Director of Product Management for the Enterprise API and will contribute to the product strategy and execution of Knewton?s enterprise-focused products and services. You will help shape the product roadmap, define requirements, and manage new product and feature developments. Additionally, you will take a metric driven approach to driving key metrics for the platform and API. You will work closely with Knewton senior management, content, data science, design, and technology teams, and directly with strategic partners to develop diverse education products.
Work cross functionally to develop an API product that makes Knewton?s technology available to partner education companies.
Understand complex business issues and technical challenges and collaborate with teams to capture requirements.
Prioritize features and capabilities among competing opportunities, balance customer needs with business priorities, and articulate rationale behind decisions.
Identify internal and external customer needs, generate requirements documents, prioritize and manage projects.
Glean customer insights through data and direct contact with customers and end users, including some domestic and international travel.
Monitor competition and evaluate our positioning in the context of the markets we serve.
Contribute to updating documentation, best practices, and friction reduction for new and existing partners.
Define, analyze, track and improve key product metrics.
Experience building API products, developer outreach, and technical specifications
Relevant, timely understanding of the landscape for web-based, scalable B2B products and services.
BS/BA or equivalent, MBA a plus.
CS background or prior experience as software developer a plus.
3+ years product management experience with RESTful web APIs.
Work fluidly in agile product development teams.
Ability to construct cost / benefit analyses.
Strong analytical capability and understanding of key financial and business metrics.
A passion for or appreciation of practical use of technology in education.
