The Product Manager is responsible for both product planning and product marketing. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements and working closely with engineering to deliver winning products. It also includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The product manager will also be a key internal and external evangelist for the product offerings, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals.
Responsibilities:
Manage the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical development and go-to market activities.
Deliver prioritized product requirements and user stories with corresponding justification supported by market research and discussions with customers and prospects.
Work with external third parties to assess partnering and licensing opportunities.
Be an expert with respect to the competition and differentiation.
Develop and execute company-wide go-to-market plan including the core positioning and messaging for the product and work with all departments to execute.
Perform product demos to customers.
Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals.
Develop sales tools and collateral.
Propose an overall budget to ensure success.
Regularly brief and train the sales force at sales meetings.
Brief press and analysts as needed.
Act as a leader within the company.
Required experience and knowledge:
3+ years of software marketing/product management experience.
Knowledgeable in technology with experience or exposure to agile programming methods.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent work experience a strong plus.
Excellent teamwork skills.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
Must be able to travel up to 20 of the time.
