What you?ll do
As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for management of the assigned product line, including the specific product mix, product families, and ongoing evaluation of products to be added, enhanced, refined, developed or eliminated. Develop support resources and training for sales, customers, manuals, and technical support. Ensure that the assigned product line/s is/are recognized as the best line by resellers and end users in the industry for value, quality, selection, innovation, features, reliability, and ease of use.
How you?ll do it
Determine product specifications and features as well as source or develop final product internally and/or externally
Ensure that all appropriate products are localized in terms of packaging, product specifications, marketing collateral, etc. for the U.S., European and Asia Pacific markets.
Negotiate costs by partnering with the Purchasing Department to coordinate costing and with Sales Management to coordinate pricing
Negotiate contracts, with management approval, with design consultants, design firms, manufacturers, and other vendors.
Prepare budgets and break-even analyses for all new development type projects.
Coordinate development projects and vendors by creating product development schedules and responsibilities and ensure they are met.
What you?ll need
Four-year college degree in Business Administration or Marketing
3+ years similar or related work experience within computer or consumer goods industry
Demonstrated ability and willingness to supervise and train others
What you?ve done
Understand channels in which consumer products sell its products through (Retail, distribution, VARs, dealers, etc.); know where products sell through and what top accounts are for assigned product line as well as sell-through information.
Provide marketing with sufficient information to develop product packaging, documentation, bulletins, and training material.
Perform ongoing market research through direct customer contact and surveys, trade shows and journals, sales evaluations, monitoring competitors and industry trends, store visits and vendor contact. Update competitor file continuously.
Work with industrial designers, engineers, toolmakers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure newly developed products are manufactured to the highest quality and deadlines are met.
