Product Manager (Custom Service) Epitomics
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED SUMMARY: The Product Manager for custom services is responsible for leading the strategic growth and profitability of Abcam?s antibody service business by developing and implementing the necessary portfolio to achieve competitive leadership. Specific responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies for: (1) a multi-year roadmap for menu expansion; (2) competitive product positioning; (3) targeting customers in the pharma, biotech and CRO segments and; (4) establishing and maintaining a strategic understanding of customer needs and market dynamics. The candidate shall work closely with internal stakeholders across: R&D: business development; project management; marketing and; sales development to accomplish the goals and objectives. The successful candidate brings to this role proven product management experience, strong domain knowledge of life science applications, the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, as well as strong technical and commercial expertise in scientific service product development. This position reports to the Senior Director of Marketing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing an overall marketing strategy including strategic fit of Epitomics/Abcam custom services for the targeted markets, customer segmentation, value proposition, and go to market strategy.
Creating long-term vision for target markets in order to establish coherent and sustainable service product pipelines based on company?s technology core competency and market needs; serve as the critical link between marketing and business development teams.
Specifying market requirements for current and future service products by conducting market research supported by close contacts with customers and non-customers.
Develop and manage marketing budget in conjunction with Director of Marketing and VP of Custom Service.
Working with graphic designer and other team members to develop and execute creative marketing campaigns and collateral.
Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical marketing activities.
Develop, track and report on metrics for marketing and sales activities.
Bachelor?s degree in Life Science discipline required. MBA degree and or an advanced biology related science degree (MS or Ph.D.) a strong plus.
Over 5 years of successful product management or market development experience in life science industry
Experience in gathering and translating customer requirements into product requirements, and driving product development plans
Previous experience with laboratory based custom services within the life sciences, drug discovery, or development space
Experienced in balancing R&D, speed to market, and managing product/service life cycle
Experience developing and executing both on-line and off-line marketing campaigns
Skilled communicator comfortable working with a multi-discipline teams and other stakeholders internal and external audiences
Clear understanding of Antibody and/or biomarker, bio-assay market
Prior experience working in an CRO environment a plus
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
Sitting, Using a computer
Lifting 5-30 lbs. occasionally, especially for trade show setups.
Office Setting 80%
Travel 20% - to customer and non-customer sites
