As a senior member of Aventura?s product management team, the Product Manager is responsible for ensuring that Aventura?s product meets marketplace needs. The Product Manager translates business goals for the software product into detailed specifications that drive software development. Duties include working with software developers to plan and estimate software development tasks, manage schedules and serve as the subject matter expert for assigned aspects of the Aventura product. This position reports to the Chief Development and Product Officer. Work is based in downtown Denver with some travel required.
Develop expertise in industry trends, customer needs and emerging technologies for an assigned aspect of the Aventura product.
Work with senior leadership to define product direction and software development initiatives.
Conduct research and interviews with customers and Aventura staff to identify and document potential new product features.
Work with marketing personnel to evaluate the revenue potential for new product features.
Evaluate costs and benefits of development initiatives and, as appropriate, develop detailed business cases analyses.
Document functional requirements, technical specifications and testing requirements that guide the software development team.
Work with the Chief Development and Product Officer, Software Developers, Software Architects and Quality Assurance Engineers to jointly plan and manage software development cycles.
Use Aventura?s Agile SDLC tool to document the status and schedules of user stories, defects, iterations and releases.
Participate in research of new technology, development tools and methodologies to improve the delivery of Aventura software.
Maintain a high level of proficiency with Aventura?s Agile SDLC tools.
Continuously invest to maintain competencies and gain new skills.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Experience working with software development processes and teams.
Experience writing technical specification documents.
Experience using MS-Excel to create financial spreadsheets.
Desire and ability to understand technical and functional product detail and distill it into clear and compelling product specifications.
REQUIRED PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:

DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will have one or more of the following desired competencies:
Professional product management experience.
Experience as software developer or quality assurance engineer.
Knowledge of object-oriented design principles and other best practices for software development.
Experience in financial modeling and business case development.
Experience with VDI and virtualization technologies.
Experience with software for the healthcare industry.
Experience designing user experience for software applications.
Experience using Rally or a similar Agile tools.
Experience working in an emerging, fast-paced software company.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A minimum of five years of experience working in a technical capacity with software development teams.
Ability to travel up to twenty percent.
Realistic, while not quite European vacation.
