Position Purpose:
There are three broad areas of responsibility for the Enterprise Management and Development Software Product Manager:
Product Management - Develop, propose, and execute an approved 2-year product plan, driving product strategies and tactics for Distribution Software and WMS/ERP Interfaces, including SAP eWM/WM products.
Sales Channel Support - Manage and coordinate the day to day support of the products to all internal and external customers on a worldwide basis with marketing team. Create foundation tactics, sales tools, and programs for products that support achievement of all annual sales plans and objectives.
Product Differentiation and Innovation Lead the differentiation and innovation effort for the product line separating Vocollect solutions from competitive offerings.
Position responsibilities:
1. Product Management
a. Develop multi-year product portfolio and life cycle plan, drive product strategies and tactics for designated product categories in accordance with target product life cycle contribution, corporate revenue, profit and return on investment objectives.
b. Lead the product development stages within the product development process, lead cross functional teams with engineering and project management
c. Ensure that all assigned products are developed within the product development process and are on schedule, within budget, and meet functional and market performance specifications
d. Prepare product requirement documents and the associated business cases. Present to executive team to secure required management approvals for product development proposals and projects
2. Sales Channel Support
a. Ensure that all products have the proper foundation positioning for the target markets and are priced, promoted, supported, maintained and administered.
b. Monitor, evaluate, and define tactical responses to competitive threats and ensure that any strategic threats are actively communicated to executive management
c. Develop, prepare and manage the delivery of all product positioning and strategic selling information to internal and external customers through a Product Marketing Plan (PMP)
d Define, prepare and manage the delivery of all product support information including but not limited to product sales literature, services, repair and other product support documentation, sales and technical support training materials, etc.
e. Ensure that all product launch and end of life activities are coordinated effectively with internal/external customers and channel partners so that appropriate messaging is available for customers on a global basis
f. Provide timely, accurate, and proactive product information to sales personnel and channel partners
g. Willingness to travel 30-50 of time to meet customer, partner and company obligations. Will involve transcontinental trips (primarily between Europe & North America) and may require occasional travel over the weekend.
3. Product Differentiation and Innovation
a. Drive product innovation through the development of extensive collaboration with customers, marketing, direct and indirect sales teams, initiatives, and prospects on a worldwide basis.
b. Define differentiated and innovative capabilities for products through offerings, extensions, mid-life kickers and unique attributes (Product Life Cycle (PLC) Management).
c. Ensure a constant flow of valuable new product ideas in the pipeline with the engineering team throughout the product development process to maximize effectiveness; meet all project and product objectives.
Position Qualifications:
Education: BS engineering or computer science; MBA preferred.
Skills & Experience Required:
BSEE or CS
Demonstrated understanding of SAP WM, eWM, and related SAP ERP software products, RF, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, voice, computers, operating systems, networking technologies, software development and quality management process (e.g. Six Sigma).
Demonstrated high degree of initiative, creative problem solving, attention to detail, and coolness under fire.
Demonstrated skills and understanding of principles of New Product Development (NPD), New Product Introductions (NPI), Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC)
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication (written and oral) skills and demonstrated ability to serve as a product expert supporting a complex sales process
Skills & Experience Desired:
European business experience, including multi-lingual capabilities (German (highly desired), French, or Italian would be beneficial)
3 or more years of quantifiable success expanding responsibility managing multiple software products and platforms (acceptable prior job descriptions include Associate Product Manager; Assistant Product Manager, Product Manager, Advanced Technology Manager or Product Engineering Manager) in a distribution or industrial oriented market segment (business-to-business) environment
Demonstrated SAP Functional or SAP Technical professional capabilities with classes, certifications or teaching assignments for the eWM or WM solutions
Demonstrated professional capabilities through any of the following certifications: new product development (NPDP), project management skills (PMP), or Pragmatic Marketing.
