Product Manager Sparta Systems
As part of the Product Management team, you will actively participate in the collaborative effort of developing product strategy, competitive analysis, user feedback, market analysis, and outbound marketing, e.g. sales readiness, product positioning, thought leadership and more. You will own the product, and will be driving the specification, prioritization and development of product enhancements and major product initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in the development and implementation of Spartas strategic direction with a focus on the companys product offering; Help to define product strategy and the product roadmap based on market trends, market opportunity, customer needs, competitive analysis and input from sales, marketing and analysts.
Ownership of product releases including the tracking and measurement of P&L, management of team sign-off, general availability and first customer ship.
Establish strong working relationship with customers (current/prospective) to define new product needs and wants. Obtain feedback from customers through the product review process and communicate information to product development. Suggest changes to strategy as needed.
Work with corporate marketing to manage delivery of all aspects of the product launch process and go-to-market strategy.
Perform outbound communications to both customers and internal staff.
Work with corporate marketing, solutions architecture and sales to create product marketing collateral and product sales tools, such as product positioning, product presentations, sales proposal templates, competitive sales tools and white papers.
Act as product champion/evangelist to the market through proactive communication with analysts, press, media and other speaking forums.
Monitor industry & technology trends;suggest topics as candidates for public relations activity.
Actively participate in various phases and activities of Sparta Systems, Inc.s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including: writing market driven user requirement specifications considering compatibility with 3rd party products; monitoring results of testing; and participating in the decision making process for determining product release schedules.
Review design documents and oversee beta testing as needed to insure successful solution acceptance and launch.
Participate in sales efforts from a support perspective including but not limited to writing and reviewing RFI/RFP/RFQ content and positioning.

Ability to assess market needs to position, price and promote product in a B2B market.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, internally and externally, especially with customers and sales-force.
Excellent presentation, analytical, and logical skills both verbal and written.
Comfortable speaking before an audience of people.
Well versed in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Minimum of 3 years of product marketing, product management or senior level pre-sales engineering, preferably in an enterprise software company.
Experience in the life-sciences, or closely related industry essential.
BS in Marketing / Computer Science or similar field. MBA and/or advanced degree preferred.
Experience analyzing customer needs and writing detailed requirements documents.
Experience interfacing directly with customers and a sales organization.
