OverviewA Product Manager at Drobo is the expert for all of the company?s products as well as how the products relate to the broader data storage industry. This member of the team needs to have a technical aptitude, a desire to learn and grow, and have a natural drive to succeed. The Product Manager has deep involvement in the development of Drobo storage arrays, from product/technology inception to relaying exciting new products to our end customers. To be effective in this role, this person needs to be able to communicate with a working manager, participate in meeting planning and execution, develop product requirement documentation (PRD), and be completely immersed in the development process. A key component of this role is the ability to work jointly with every group in the company and outside partners to drive cross-functional activities.
The Product Manager will also communicate with end customers and participate in trade events showcasing Drobo. This position requires 10% to 15% travel.
Responsibilities
Interpret the creative vision of the company?s product development process and translate this vision into highly successful products
Define product requirements
Participate in product positioning and creating marketing collateral
Interact with the Engineering team on an ongoing basis
Work on product pricing and margin analysis
Work on competitive analysis and market analysis
Create product training for internal customers (Support, Sales, others as required)
Publish weekly project updates to cross-functional teams
Participate in trade and partner events
Other duties as required
Requirements
Business, computer science, or engineering degree desired
Strong technical background/aptitude and the ability to learn quickly
Proven ability to lead and be a strong team member
Commitment to teamwork and ability to lead cross-functional working teams
Highly adept at working through others; strong process focus
Excellent writing skills
Excellent presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas or requirements
Excellent communication skills
Ability to communicate precisely to all levels of the organization and outside audiences
