Job Description: Vocollect is the leading provider of innovative voice technology solutions that help companies with mobile workers run a better business. We are seeking a Product Manager for our Pittsburgh, PA location.
Position Responsibilities: There are multiple areas of responsibility for the Product Manager:
?Product Management ? Develop and propose multi-year strategic product plan, driving product strategies and tactics through customer-researched and market-based requirements for the distribution and warehousing market.
oDevelop multi-year product lifecycle plans. Drive product strategies and tactics for designated products in accordance with target product lifecycle contribution, corporate revenue, profit and return on investment objectives.
oTrack and prioritize feature requests for your products, balancing these requests with other product initiatives. Ensure input from cross-functional teams (e.g., Technical Support, Quality, Operations, etc.) into product roadmap plans.
oPrepare customer-tested market requirement documents and the associated business cases. Support presentations to executive team to secure required management approvals for product development proposals and projects
oEnsure that all assigned products are being developed to meet functional and market performance specifications. Guide product teams by providing timely decisions over the course of a project. Work with project management to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
oSupport the Product Management organization?s Customer Advisory Board, Partner, and trade shows through creating and delivering communication materials as needed.
oSupport the Sales team in customer- and partner-facing meetings by delivering sales content and presentations articulating the value that Vocollect solutions deliver.
?Driving Cross-Functional Initiatives ? Lead efforts to drive cross-functional improvements to make the business run more efficiently. This involves working with representatives from different parts of the business, all who may have different objectives and perspectives. This role must be able to bring all these perspectives into consideration to develop initiatives that all members of the organization support.
oWork with cross-functional teams to develop processes to meet specific business initiatives. Ensure that all team members? perspectives are included and drive the team to a common agreement.
oDocument processes and, when required, present processes to executive team for final approval.
?Product Differentiation and Innovation ?Through in-the-field customer research, lead the differentiation and innovation effort for the product line, distinguishing Vocollect solutions from copetitive offerings and ensuring market acceptance.
oDrive product innovation by conducting extensive in-field collaboration with customers, marketing, direct and indirect sales teams, initiatives, and prospects worldwide.
oEncourage a constant flow of valuable new product ideas with the engineering team throughout the product development process to maximize effectiveness.
?Subject Matter Expertise ? Become the expert on one or more software or hardware products so that you can support the worldwide Sales Channel and marketing teams.
oEnsure that all products have the proper positioning for the target markets and are priced, promoted, supported, maintained and administered. When a product is part of a solution, ensure that the solution delivers on market promises.
oThrough first-hand field and customer-based-research, monitor, evaluate, and define tactical responses to competitive threats and ensure that any strategic threats are actively communicated to executive management.
oDevelop, prepare and manage the delivery of product positioning and strategic selling information to internal and external customers through a Product Marketing Plan.
oDefine and manage the delivery of content for all product support information including but not limited to product sales literature, services information, repair documentation, and technical support training materials.
oEnsure that all product launch activities are coordinated effectively with internal/external customers and channel partners so that appropriate messaging is available for customers on a global basis.
oProvide timely and accurate product information to sales personnel and channel partners.
oWillingness to travel minimum 10-30% of time to meet customer, partner and company obligations. Will involve occasional international trips and may require occasional travel over the weekend.
Education: MBA preferred. BS in one of the following areas: communications, business, marketing, engineering, management information systems, or computer science.
Skills & Experience Required:
?Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication (written and oral) skills. Ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
?Relevant career experience, whether in requirements definition, communication/marketing or development.
?Demonstrated understanding of various backgrounds (some, not all): Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) software products, Cloud computing, security software, Point-of-Sale (POS) software, Store Planogram software, Engineered Labor Standards (ELS) systems, operating systems, networking architectures, and quality management process.
?Demonstrated high degree of initiative, flexibility, creative problem solving, attention to detail, presentation experience, and coolness under fire.
?Strong presentation skills and comfort speaking in front of audiences.
Skills & Experience Desired:
?3 or more years of expanding responsibility with multiple products and platforms in a business-to-business market environment.
?Demonstrated professional capabilities through any of the following certifications: new product development, project management skills (PMP), or Pragmatic Marketing.
Shows skills and understanding of general principles around New Product Development (NPD), New Product Introductions (NPI), and Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC)
