The Catalys? System developed by OptiMedica is designed to bring precision to the critical steps in cataract surgery. As a Product Manager (Req #111) you will play a key role defining the rapid advancement of femtosecond cataract technology and next generation products in a highly competitive ophthalmic market.
You must possess a unique blend of business, clinical and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must be a good listener eager to spend time with customers to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company to drive cross-functional decision-making. It is crucial for you to have attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate user needs into technical and clinical market requirements. You must be adept as simplifying complexity.
You will work internally with project leads to define product requirements that meet the market requirements. You will also serve as one of the internal and external evangelists for the product offering, working closely with the sales channel, advisory boards, and key customers.

Job Functions
Be the clinical and technical expert in laser cataract surgery
Develop user personas and use cases to articulate market needs to internal stakeholders
Develop and implement market requirements for periodic releases for cataract femtosecond system and associated products
Proactively collaborate with users, advisors, and internal stakeholders to lead the feature definition and prioritization process
Collaborate with project teams to ensure market requirements are fulfilled in new product offerings
Develop strategy for clinical and technical thought leadership
Lead long range strategic planning
Requirements/Skills
2 plus years of upstream product management experience
Demonstrated success in developing market requirements and product roadmaps
Working knowledge of design control process and the regulated medical device environment
Experience focusing on long term planning while balancing short term deadlines
Outstanding organizational, multitasking and analytical skills
Passion for new technologies and for improving visual care and outcomes for patients around the world
Strong technical abilities, curiosity and persistence
Precise diction, excellent written and oral communication skills
Avid user of online software such as requirements management tools, googledocs, cloud-based file sharing, online collaboration and project management, survey software
Knowledgeable in medicine, biology, technology, medical device space. Ophthalmology experience desired (or ability to quickly learn a new clinical specialty)
Outstanding team player with strong leadership qualities, initiative and interpersonal skills
This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites worldwide (up to 25%)
Education
Engineering, science or marketing degree, MS or MBA preferred
