Product Manager/Senior Technical Services Engineer Biocoat

Reports To: Vice-President Coatings Technology or President
Responsibilities include working with Biocoat clients and prospects to develop coatings processes for new applications, preparation of technical manuals to support customer process development, interacting with customers to troubleshoot process related problems and advise them on ways to reduce/eliminate those problems, and assist marketing in the promotion of Biocoat?s products. Responsibilities may include the writing of SOPs or reports, simple troubleshooting of some manufacturing or equipment issues, and interfacing with customers and/or auditors. Manage and train one or two individuals acting as Technical services technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides support to current customers to resolve problems related to the application and use of Hydak hydrophilic coatings.
Principle contact with customers for IQ, OQ, and PQ of new customer Hydak coating lines.
Assist licensee setting up their own coating facilities with technology transfer, conceptual design, equipment specs, suppliers, training, validation, etc.
Tests devices to determine cause of reported defects.
Provides written reports to customers of findings from diagnosis of device defects.
Provides technical support to developmental customers during the transition from preparation of prototype devices coated with Hydak hydrophilic coatings in Biocoat developmental laboratories and production at customer?s manufacturing site.
Provides on-site training of customer personnel in both the application and testing of Hydak hydrophilic coatings.
Visiting customers to inspect their coating process and provide comments for areas of potential improvements.
Prepares technical manuals for the use of Hydak hydrophilic coatings to serve as guidance for Biocoat customers.
Lead Design controls projects for new hydrophilic coatings.
Conduct verification/validation testing for new hydrophilic coatings products.
Develops new test methods for the evaluation of hydrophilic coatings.
Evaluates competitive technologies to develop strategies for more effective marketing of Biocoat products.
Proposes new opportunities for Biocoat products.
Assists senior management to evaluate potential acquisitions.
Manages and trains technicians.
Works with Applications Development personnel to advise coating procedures appropriate for customer?s developmental products.
Work with research to develop the design requirements for new coatings.
Provides inputs for utility of new technology in patent applications.
Design custom testing equipment.
Identifies and evaluates equipment for purchase either to enhance coating capabilities or to extend testing capabilities.
Assists marketing to develop trade show displays and presentations.
Provides assistance at trade shows to help identify new customers.
Helps marketing evaluate and prioritize potential opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
At the discretion of the hiring manager:
A Master?s degree in Biomaterials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with demonstrated academic success.
Ability to train, motivate and manage subordinate technicians.
2+ year experience in medical devices field is a requirement.
A sufficient background in chemistry to understand Biocoat?s hydrophilic coatings.
An understanding of experimental design and analysis.
Demonstrated problem solving skills in medical device manufacturing.
Knowledge of the requirements for FDA Good manufacturing practices.
Proficient in the use of Excel, PowerPoint, and word.
Demonstrated oral and writing skills.
Travel 25% of the time.
Effective listening skills.
