Product Manager
Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Product Manager is responsible for managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with Engineering to deliver winning products. It also includes working with Sales, Marketing, and Support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager is an evangelist for the product and ensures that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals.
Responsibilities
Identify, specify, and prioritize features and capabilities primarily through direct input with customers
Deliver product requirements in the form of PRD documents with prioritized features and corresponding business justification
Define the product strategy and roadmap
Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product
In conjunction with Marketing, develop product collateral (e.g. white papers, data sheets, web site product listing), demos, and presentations
In conjunction with Business Development, assess partnerships and licensing opportunities with third parties
Be an expert with respect to the competition and produce competitive materials
Perform product demos and roadmap presentations to customers
Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
Brief and train the sales force regularly
Brief press and analysts and go on press tours
Support sales efforts as required (25% of time) including some travel
Write and manage the process of composing technical whitepapers
Work with RFP team to respond to technical marketing questions
Collect win/loss data on products by working with sales
Act as a leader within the company
Experience and Education Requirements:
4+ years in Product Management or Product Marketing for technical products
BA/BS degree, MBA a plus, CS or EE degree a plus
Demonstrated capacity for developing and understanding product strategy
Understanding of the networking security market
Previous dealings with customer decision makers and influencers
Familiarity with traditional methods of market research
Experience with public speaking in groups of 20 or more individuals
Knowledge of influential industry analysts and press
Mastery of office productivity tools
