The Product Manager designs and implements the product roadmap that addresses market demands and surpasses the relevant competition to achieve long term financial goals for the company. The individual will spend significant time on conducting market analysis, competitive analysis, product innovation, customer and non-customer validation, pricing strategies for healthcare related products and services. The Product Manager must have a deep knowledge of the product area and market segments they support as well as a solid understanding of a client?s business needs and the respective short and long term business goals for all involved stakeholders. The Product Manager will focus on core revenue cycle and/or complementary product lines for various segments of the healthcare provider market.
Market Awareness and Opportunity
Identify new healthcare business growth opportunities through a detailed understanding of key market/customer trends and competitor strategies.
Synthesize market insights to proactively identify business opportunities, threats, and challenges.
Work with Marketing to define customer and market segmentation, and develop and validate business models.
Assess market potential and determine priorities for the right segment/targets.
Derive recommendations for input into strategic planning and product development.
Lead cross-functional teams to plan for new products.
Establish market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research and lead on-going visits to customers and non-customers.
Lead Product Advisory Groups and focus groups.
Contribute to thought leadership/research at advisory councils made up of executive and industry/market leaders.
Product Strategy and Roadmap
Define and lead product strategy development in alignment with provider portfolio and corporate strategy.
Align product and/or product suite roadmaps with the defined market and portfolio strategy; ensure alignment of assigned products with portfolio, unit and corporate goals/strategies.
Develop the strategic business plan capitalizing on future market needs and opportunities.
Recommend pricing strategies for healthcare related products and services.
Design and implement the product roadmap that addresses market demands and surpasses the relevant competition to achieve long term financial goals for Availity.
Set overall goals for assigned product suite.
Product Development and Launch
Ensure product development activities are aligned with product roadmap priorities. Collaborate with Product Owner on scope/vision for product, negotiate delivery commitments and expectations.
Collaborate with Marketing in the development of a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute. Provide product and market data and insight to assist all sales channels in presenting Availity?s offerings.
Participate in actual sales calls for customers or prospects for market information gathering or as a SME.
Use detailed knowledge of customers to help Sales steer customers to appropriately delivery channels, products, and services.
Line of Business / P&L Management
Manage P&L performance for products or product suite and ensures P&L targets are achieved.
Manage products of moderate impact (revenue, expense, profitability) and complexity.
In collaboration with Business Planning, prepare business plans and financial models.
Ensure appropriate escalation paths are in place to resolve issues.
Prepare and/or present materials for a successful monthly business review, senior leadership meetings, board meetings, employee meetings, etc.
Work with all stakeholders to ensure Service level agreements are in place and executed.
Identify areas of pursuit for partnership opportunities in collaboration with Business Development.
Evaluate market and product fit of third party products.
Collaborate with Business Planning to develop/validate business model and financial model to support buy/partner evaluation.
Drive build/buy/partner decisions.
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS (Required)
Product Management Experience
Four (4) or more years of healthcare industry and product management experience.
Previous experience directly managing 1 large product or 2-3 smaller/mid-sized products (from inception to launch) in healthcare (e.g., clinical, billing, care management, infrastructure).
Previous healthcare product management experience within the provider (ambulatory or acute) market.
Project Leadership Experience
Experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions in a matrix environment.
Proven track record of successfully leading teams to achieve business objectives.
Previous responsibility for product or product set P&L.
Proven track record for profitably growing market share.
Strong process management and business planning experience.
Strong background in Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service.
Experience speaking at industry and/or customer focused events.
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS (Preferred)
Eight (8) or more years of healthcare industry and product management experience.
Experience working in an Agile and/or iterative development environment.
Experience working in an entrepreneurial company or entrepreneurial environment.
Previous healthcare revenue cycle management experience.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION (Required)
Bachelor?s degree in Business, Technology or a related discipline.
NOTE: 2 -4 years of relevant work experience may serve as an equivalent for the bachelor?s degree.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION (Preferred)
Pragmatic Marketing Certification
Professional Credentials in Healthcare (HIMSS, HFMA, MPH, MHA, RHIA, etc.)
