The Catalys? System developed by OptiMedica is designed to bring precision to the critical steps in cataract surgery. As a Product Marketing Manager (Req #112) for OptiMedica, you will play a key role in the development of the femtosecond laser cataract surgery market and the positioning of the Catalys Precision Laser System.
You must possess a unique blend of business, clinical and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time with customers to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company to drive cross-functional decision-making. It is crucial for you to have attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical and clinical capabilities into benefits. You must be adept as simplifying complexity.
You will work with R&D, marketing, sales, regulatory, operations, service, clinical applications, and executive teams to define product launches. You will work with marketing communications team to define and refine the go-to-market strategy, ensuring that the product?s positioning, features and benefits are effectively communicated to the market. You will also serve as one of the internal and external evangelists for the product offering, working closely with the sales channel, advisory boards, and key customers.

Job Functions
Develop, lead and implement company-wide launch plans for periodic releases for cataract femtosecond system and associated products, working with all departments to execute these launches
Proactively collaborate with users, advisors, and R&D to understand the feature set of new product launches and develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates OptiMedica in the highly competitive laser cataract surgery market
Identify sales, marketing and clinical training needs for distributor partners and develop the sales and clinical training tools as needed
Create messaging and coordinate communication efforts with distribution partners, advisory boards and other external stakeholders. Track and optimize use of materials. Develop communication platforms
Lead sales and marketing training for our direct commercial team and distribution partners
Be the expert on our competition and drive our competitive marketing strategy
Requirements/Skills
Minimum of 2 years experience creating product positioning and competitive messaging
Working knowledge of change control process, labeling, and working in regulated medical device environment
Demonstrated capacity for developing and understanding strategy
Outstanding organizational, multitasking and analytical skills
Demonstrated experience in managing expectations
Strong technical abilities, curiosity and persistence
Avid user of online software tools such as googledocs, cloud-based file sharing, online collaboration and project management, survey software
Precise diction, excellent written and oral communication skills. Confident public speaker
Passion for new technologies and for improving visual care and outcomes for patients around the world
Outstanding team player with strong leadership qualities, initiative and interpersonal skills
Knowledgeable in medicine, biology, technology, medical device space. Ophthalmology experience desired (or ability to quickly learn a new clinical specialty)
This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites worldwide (up to 25%)
Education
Marketing, engineering or science degree, MBA preferred
