Product Quality Engineer - Root Cause & Corrective Action Management
This position will be responsible for working closely with product development teams to support the proactive development of high quality vehicles and subsystems. This position will have responsibility for overall management of Tesla's Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) management system referred to as “Concerns Management Systemâ€. This system is used to track issues identified through the development process to assure follow through and resolution of these issues in preparation for production.
Responsibilities:
With overall ownership of the concerns management process the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Overall management of Concerns tracking database to manage updates and users.
Maintain weekly concerns status reports to track new issues raised, progress on closure and management reviews on readiness for production.
Monitor and drive progress on Concerns resolution working with other product quality engineers:
Assure new concerns are clearly documented
Assignment of concerns to correct owners throughout the organization
Maintain organizational focus on concerns management to drive and document resolution.
Work with other quality personnel to coordinate validation of adequate resolution and documentation for closure.
Organize regular meetings with engineering teams to assure continued focus on Concerns resolution
Requirements:
The successful candidate for this position must have a broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, service and suppliers across a wide variety of issues. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outside.
A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or other technical discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of experience with at least 3 years in a Quality Engineering role.
Good knowledge of automobiles with preferred experience working in automotive industry.
Strong background with and knowledge of automotive 8D or six sigma problem solving methodologies.
Specific training and demonstrated success in applying design for quality and problem solving methodologies
Design for Six Sigma, FMEA, Fishbone Diagrams, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc.
Strong capabilities to work with tracking databases and excel for Concerns management reports.
Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and to present Concerns status to management teams
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (<10%).
