GENERAL PURPOSE: Under the general guidance of Vice President of Product Engineering, the Product/Sales Engineer provides technical sales support, expertise and advice regarding MTN services/products and system integration. The Product/Sales Engineer responds to customer and sales inquiries, including RFI/RFQ/RFPs. In addition, the Product/Sales Engineer manages sales leads/projects and serves as project manager until a contract is signed and handed over to operations for implementation. The Product/Sales Engineer is also responsible for identifying new procedures in order streamline the sales process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Responds to internal sales, customer and business partner inquires
? Determines customer requirements and proposes technical solutions
? Interfaces with customer, at all levels, to gather technical facts to support the quotation and contracting process
? Creates network drawings, equipment lists and other items
? Meets deadlines for assigned projects, configuration and documentation for proposals
? Submits terrestrial circuit quote and provisioning requests to IT
? Provides proactive liaison with Operations, Sales, Network Services, Engineering and Program Management with detailed specifications for each project to facilitate implementation.
? Assists the Sales department with the creation of rate tables and pricing
? Maintains documentation on shared drive
? Makes recommendations regarding the financial and logistical feasibility of projects
? Identifies ways to improve and/or streamline the sales process
? Assists the Marketing department with web site and brochure design and content
? Keeps up to date with all MTN products and service offerings
? Assists Sales in presenting technical solutions at customer locations
? Uses the CRM for lead tracking, quote generation and order processing
? Assists IT with Experlogix database configuration
? Collaborates with Product Development department on roadmap initiatives
? Other related tasks as may be assigned
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
? BA or BS in a technical field or equivalent experience is required
? 5+ years experience in technical support or sales engineering role
? Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new technologies
? Knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP and general network theory is desired
? Knowledge of Cisco routers, satellite antennas and VOIP equipment is desired
? Cisco certification is desired but not required
? Ability to work independently under general guidance and deliver results
? Must be self motivated, responsible and punctual with a can-do attitude
? Must be polite and professional under all circumstances when interacting with existing and potential customers
? Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to explain complex subject matter in simple but accurate terms
? Ability to work under pressure with aggressive deadlines.
? May require hands-on technical work in the office and in the field
NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: This position reports to VP of Product Engineering. Interacts with: Internal ? Operations, Sales, Network Services, Engineering and Program Management. External ? customer (technical and business contacts), equipment vendors, vendor engineers and technicians.
