Position Summary
The Production Chemist I/II will be a member of the Manufacturing Operations team with the primary responsibility for formulation, filling and packaging of Opgen?s consumable products to the quality, efficiency and timeliness standards that have been established. He/She will interface at various levels within the organization to ensure that Operations and Corporate goals are met.
Primary Job Functions
? Manage Work Order process in ERP system.
? Formulate, fill and package consumables according to Company SOPs and cGMP guidelines for Opgen?s products.
? Ensure the accuracy of all work and complete all process documentation.
? Work diligently but efficiently to complete all tasks in a timely manner.
? Perform analytical testing.
? Recommend and participate in process improvement activities.
? Communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions.
? Cooperate with coworkers within an organized team work environment.
? Perform work assignments accurately and in a safe manner.
? Effectively communicate project status to Production Management.
Education/Skills/Attributes Required
? BS Degree from an accredited university preferred; Associates Degree in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biology, chemistry or related discipline acceptable.
? Minimum of 2 yrs experience in the formulation of reagents for Biotech, Pharma or IVD products in a cGMP environment required!
? Experience in the formulation of reagents in a cGMP manufacturing environment.
? Thoroughly knowledgeable in the requirements for working within a cGMP environment.
? Familiarity with standard laboratory methods in working with biological materials.
? Must be thoroughly familiar with working with ERP systems in a production environment.
? Must be quality oriented.
? Ability to operate with limited supervision and work cooperatively within both Production and R&D environments.
? Adaptable to a rapidly changing environment.
? Must show initiative in offering suggestions for improvement of quality, yields and efficiency of production processes.
? Ability to multitask with a strong attention to detail.
? Knowledge of and ability to work in a chemical lab environment, including use of standard laboratory equipment as well as specialized laboratory equipment such as spectrophotometers.
? General computer skills utilizing MS Office.
? Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written form with peers and management in the performance of the required duties.
? Basic mathematical skills required. Familiarity with statistical methods a plus.
? Position is expected to follow SOP?s established for all processes and to understand when information should be brought to the attention of Production Management.
? Lifting/carrying objects of 5-15 lbs. on a daily basis.
? Lifting/carrying objects of 16-50+ lbs. occasionally.
? Occasional kneeling and pushing/pulling of items.
? Knowledge of and ability to work in a chemical lab environment, following appropriate safety procedures.
