We are seeking a Production Database Administrator with 5+ years of hands-on DBA support experience to fill a permanent position in a highly dynamic and rapidly growing startup company. The ideal candidates will have a track record of working with new or emerging technologies and will have experience working directly with software developers and customers. Furthermore, they will possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, able to quickly establish credibility and rapport with a wide set of technical resources throughout the organization. This person will respond to questions, requests, or automated alerts from internal employees as well as external customers and apply their broad technical expertise to solve issues in a timely, professional manner.
The ideal candidate will act as a well-rounded Production Database Administrator able to perform mid to high level troubleshooting for all Database and related issues including some basic hardware troubleshooting and performance testing.
This role is responsible for security, integrity, performance, availability and recoverability of databases, database servers and related systems. The ideal candidate understands the changing technologies associated with databases and enterprise operation systems and hardware. They are knowledgeable in enterprise storage best practices provisioning, performance monitoring; and how it relates to database performance.
Minimum 5 years experience in database administration, database development, and general troubleshooting in a complex Windows environment.
Writes complex SQL queries to aid troubleshooting, find and fix data issues, and to support other customer requests.
Works with customers on troubleshooting production issues within the customer?s database.
Manages production / performance testing and quality assurance database environments including creating large testing datasets.
Performs optimization on production databases insuring high levels of performance.
Works with development, performance, and implementation DBAs on projects related to enterprise data and systems.
Install, maintain, and secure new versions RDBMS software, applications, and associated software.
Deploy new databases and associated software insuring security, availability and recoverability.
Create, monitor and secure backup plans that align with business needs
Deploy, configure, and monitor hardware and perform troubleshooting.
Works with PM/BAs, developers, and network/server team members in enterprise capacity planning.
Windows Server 2003 or 2008 experience
Experience with VMWare, IIS (6, 7, 7.5), MS SQL Server (2000, 2005, 2008).
Basic understanding of MS security models.
Experience with Windows Powershell, Windows batch scripting, and other scripting languages
Understanding of network topologies including firewalls, load balancers, and reverse proxies
Understanding of SAN topologies and concepts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Familiarity in a broad range of IT skills including networking, server management, relational databases, scripting, performance tuning, software troubleshooting, etc.
Familiarity with non-Microsoft technologies (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
Full life cycle development experience

Advanced knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008 database architecture, security, scalability, including replication, (GEO) clustering, mirroring, and related technologies
Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems; deploying, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Strong Knowledge of basic Transact-SQL related to Production DBA responsibilities
Knowledge of enterprise business resilience best practices.
Knowledge of storage area networks including arrays, switching and related software.
General knowledge in networking concepts, practices, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Information Systems
