Description
SEVEN is looking for an expert software and system professional with cloud computing expertise to join and complement our experienced Operations team. We are seeking an energetic, driven engineer that has first-hand experience developing, deploying, and maintaining large cloud infrastructure using Cassandra and Hadoop. This person will be a critical component in building/deploying our software services into the cloud. He/she will work with other members of the Operations team to install, configure, and maintain the cloud application deployment infrastructure. This person will guide and oversee the cloud deployments based on their strong background and first-hand experience with these technologies.The ideal candidate has an engineering background and a strong experience building scalable, cloud-based, high performance systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Install and configure cloud servers using Cassandra and Hadoop
Troubleshoot issues with cloud infrastructure in a production operations environment
Design and deploy High Availability (HA) and scalable cloud infrastructure
Develop cloud monitoring solutions
Develop best practices and configurations for cloud infrastructure
Work closely with Engineering to develop, plan and implement application deployments to clouds
Drive technical innovation and efficiency in cloud infrastructure operations via automation
Provide technical support, troubleshooting and complex problem resolution on escalated issues while monitoring and maintaining application environment stability.
Work effectively with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and identify and resolve technical design issues
Maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art computer/network and cloud system technologies, architectures, and products.
Design and build tools to enable access to Cassandra and Hadoop platforms as a service.
Required Skill and Experience:
Demonstrated knowledge and operations experience in managing large cloud infrastructure
Experience in managing keyspaces and logical objects on the cloud
Experience in Linux-based environments for managing cloud services
2+ years experience with Cassandra is a MUST
Experience with Hadoop, Flume, and Oozie
Deep familiarity with the components of cloud-based services, including caching, database architecture, API design, queueing services, efficient - data structure and algorithms, etc.
Experience with highly scaling, distributed, multi-threaded software design, and deep understanding of distributed data model
Experience working on software applications that handle thousands requests per second, and millions of requests per day
Experience with query optimization, horizontal scaling, and with delivering Software as a Service
Ability to work as part of a team in building, administering and deploying automated systems and application deployments
Knowledge and experience in supporting and troubleshooting Linux networking services and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, LDAP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, SNMP, SSL, and HTTP.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in documenting and teaching installation and configuration processes.
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering Technology or technical degree and/or certifications.
Comfortable with modern web-based application technologies and be able to mentor and work with technical team members spread over multiple time zones
Preferred Experience:
Linux administration experience
Experience with wireless system technologies
Experience deploying or managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
MS in Computer Science or Engineering
