The Role

The Production Planner in an integral part of the Powertrain Manufacturing organization and will oversee and monitor the company's production control functions including creation and maintenance of production orders, addressing material shortages, and cycle counting. Review of the Master Build Schedule to ensure that resources (man, material, and machine) are available to support the demand plan. Help to ensure best practices around 5S and Lean Manufacturing are implemented and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Execute and monitor the production control functions including production order review, material shortage review, and cycle counting.
• Run daily production meetings with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, etc to review issues and ensure continuity of production.
• Verify and align with the master production schedule to ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Plan production to eliminate customer shortages while minimizing finished good inventory.
• Coordinate activities with the Supply Chain organization and review material positions so that alternate solutions, if required, are developed to ensure on-time customer delivery.
• Participate in cross-functional teams supporting existing and new products from prototype to volume production.
• Support Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
• Manage small projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contractors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 3-5 years progressive experience in Production Planning and factory scheduling in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in SAP or comparable ERP environments.
• Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
• Skills with common workplace software (word processor, spreadsheet, etc) with the ability to create and maintain metrics.
• Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings.
