The Professional Services Principal Consultant is a technical leader within the Professional Services organization. The Principal Consultant will draw on significant personal experience in PKI, data encryption, information security, and systems design to develop recommended architectures for standard product deployments that solve customers? complex certificate and key management problems. This entails working in a post-sales setting directly with customers (both on-site and off-site) across different industries, technologies, and business problem areas along with Venafi staff across the company, partners, and industry experts.
I
n addition to technology specific solutions, the Principal Consultant will also work with customers in a security consultant capacity to analyze security postures and provide guidance to define and quantify encryption key and certificate management problems.
As a ?voice of the customer? the Principal Consultant will also provide insight and recommendations into the product development process to ensure Venafi products will continue to lead the marketplace for encryption management.
Travel to customers, Venafi headquarters, and industry events will be required.
Responsibilities
Help the Venafi Professional Services organization extend its leadership as a world class operation by making customers successful in deploying Encryption Key and Certificate Management solutions.
Provide leadership within Venafi and with our customers in the design of technical solutions for customers based on Venafi and partner products and technology, addressing specific customer business problems.
Lead the installation, customization, deployment, testing, and production go-live of Venafi products in a customer environment.
Participate in business development activities including pre-sales meeting with clients and Sales team.
Provide technical leadership on assigned Professional Services engagements, including working with third party sub-contractors.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
Assist in recruiting staff, strategy development, etc. as necessary.
Work with Venafi Product Management to ensure the development of products that provide ease of deployment for customers.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and other encryption and data security technologies, including technology, standards, and implementations.
Design and deployment of solutions based on Microsoft Server (.NET) technologies.
Directory technologies and standards, e.g., LDAP, Active Directory.
Database (Oracle/MS SQL/MySQL) experience.
Strong business acumen to be able to determine the critical business problems to be solved and to articulate the business solution to the problem.
Experience and comfort working with sales, client IT, and client end-user groups in high-pressure situations.
The ability to identify potential issues early on and escalates to management as appropriate.
Sense of urgency, self-managed and goal oriented attitude.
Excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills.
Willingness to travel 30-50% within US and Canada; other international travel a possibility.
Location is flexible; preference for major US city for ease of travel and proximity to likely customer base.
Preferred Experience
7+ years? experience working with complex systems, including hardware and software based.
3+ years of direct security industry experience primarily with PKI, encryption, and data protection.
At least 5 years professional services, consulting or other customer-facing (e.g., Sales Engineering) experience, designing and deploying off-the-shelf enterprise software inside of a customer environment in a high travel role (at least 30% travel), preferably for a software product company.
CISSP or other security certifications a plus
