Professional Services Systems Engineer Seven Networks
The Professional Services Systems Engineer performs a variety of critical functions associated with customizing, deploying and troubleshooting trial and production deployments of SEVEN products. The Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing customer requirements via configuration and branding parameters, integrating SEVEN products with customers? infrastructure, and verifying system and end-to-end functionality within the customer environment.
The Systems Engineer also works closely with SEVEN Customer Support and Engineering personnel in support of production issues and updates by providing technical leadership and guidance, and helping triage and resolve technical issues. In this role, they also need to be able to effectively interact with various SEVEN personnel, including developers, development managers, and systems administrators. A strong technical background and familiarity with wireless technologies and enterprise software is essential.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform SEVEN product deployments in both SEVEN and customer-hosted environments
Provide expertise and input for customization specification, implementation and deployment
Complete SEVEN software deployment including configuration, building and deployment of the packages
Provide consultation and expertise for the planning and setup of customer hosting environment, including hardware, software and connectivity (customer hosted environments)
Complete and/or support integrations in operator services, for example VPN, SMS-C, Provisioning and Billing systems
Documentation and release administration of the deployment
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on the product setup and integrations independently and in cooperation with customer and other SEVEN teams
Participate in the development of tools and processes that improve team efficiencies and streamline day-to-day activities
Participate in customer and project communications focusing on technical matters
Required Skill & Experience:
5+ years related work experience
Proficient in Java programming
Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic team-oriented environment
Highly motivated and willing to do what is required to get things done
Good knowledge of Ubuntu OS and SQL language
Experience with shell scripting
Knowledge of software development and QA processes
Knowledge in working with network components and troubleshooting connectivity issues
Basic knowledge of SNMP
Strong oral and written communication skills ? capable of working directly with customer personnel
Familiar with HTML, XML, and Javascript
Proficiency with Unix and Windows software development environments
Preferred Experience:
MS in Computer Science or Engineering
Knowledge and experience on working with Operator systems and services, especially SMS-C, is beneficial
Previous Software development experience, particularly with Java, C, and C++
Previous experience performing software development and QA
Experience with the Android Operating System
Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
