INRIX is seeking a few consumer-focused and nigh-unstoppable Program Managers to drive the definition, prioritization, and execution of its consumer products.This role is a unique opportunity to join a successful, growing b2b company with incredible real-time data and predictive capabilities and lead the creation of important new functionality in a wave of inspiring new consumer applications that will bring millions of people greater sanity, improved communication and better productivity every day. You?ll also have the freedom to propose brand new user scenarios in which INRIX provides value to millions of consumers multiple times a day. This is bigger than navigation ? the team will be inventing whole new product categories.
As a Program Manager on a small, elite team, you will work in conjunction with design, marketing, and the executive staff to envision the future benefits of real-time motion/location data sources in hundreds of millions of pockets and vehicles. You will also and work side by side with engineering every day to realize these benefits in working code, test the implementations with real end users, and adjust future product plans based on the results. This is a vital position with major product impact and responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Focus feature area and app-level planning on a well-defined vision with clear user scenarios and goals.
Work in conjunction with the marketing, engineering, and design teams to set and communicate feature goals and designs and manage work to meet deadlines.
Create specs and design docs (specs, speclets, wikis, whiteboard sketches, etc.) as necessary to keep engineering running at full speed and the product evolving at a rapid pace in the direction of the overall product vision.
Work side by side with engineers and designers to create product features, ensure they fit into a greater whole, and iterate to make them as great as they can be so that our products keep growing in terms of their usefulness, usability, and ability to set and exceed customer expectations.
Make hard decisions every day weighing customer needs, support issues, development goals, schedule deadlines, feature sets, code quality, optimal user experiences vs. alternatives, and quality issues in order to continually deliver the best product at the right time.
Validate products continually through behavioral user data, customer support information, and sales/churn data and drive product optimization efforts in all portions of the ?user funnels? for your product areas and/or apps.
Our ideal Program Managers will have:
A track record of released software products and services that are both useful and usable.
Shipped products for the web, mobile phones, and/or tablet interfaces.
An unfailing empathy for consumer customers and the will to hold the line in the face of external pressures and conflicting team goals to ensure a great consumer experience.
The soft skills required to successfully lead a multidisciplinary feature team and serve as a hub of team knowledge and communication without direct management authority over your partner disciplines.
A series of engineers, designers, and testers who hold you in high respect and can?t wait to work with you again.
A technical background that puts you on solid footing to understand engineering issues and work in conjunction with engineers to come up with creative solutions to technical implementation and schedule problems.
Product experience spanning both resource-strapped startup companies and more established corporations.
Practical experience with more than one product development methodology (e.g. Agile, SCRUM, waterfall, spiral, etc.).
3+ years? experience creating and releasing software products.
A Passion for user experience, product quality, and attention to details.
Comfort making product decisions with limited or missing data, and with rapid development cycles and tight schedules.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, HCI, Business, or related areas; or equivalent experience.
