Job Summary:
The Project Engineer?s principal responsibilities are to provide technical support for development through successful commissioning of new, automated manufacturing equipment and processes. In addition, this position will provide technical support for improvement, advanced troubleshooting and modification of existing manufacturing equipment and processes. ??In this role, the candidate shall be responsible for the mechanical design and safe, reliable performance of the associated equipment or systems. The candidate will at times design, construct, debug and document systems. However, many projects will involve specifying requirements and overseeing outside vendors and contractors in the accomplishment of project objectives.
The Project Engineer shall report to the Engineering Manager and work principally with Manufacturing, Technical Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, outside contractors and equipment suppliers to achieve objectives either as team member or individual technical contributor.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
? Responsible for assuring new or modified production equipment or processes conform to applicable safety standards, regulations and codes.
? Demonstrates safety leadership in day to day activities, equipment design and management of assigned project resources.
? Manage project teams and outside suppliers in execution of small to medium projects involving automated manufacturing equipment.
? Specify/design, evaluate, troubleshoot and commission automated production processes, equipment of low to moderate complexity.
? Participate in qualification of new or improved processes, equipment or products.
? Contribute to the development of detailed project plans and budgets. Track and report progress in assigned areas.
? Oversee work of vendors, contractors, maintenance personnel working on assigned projects.
? Support manufacturing by providing troubleshooting and technical support for improvements or modification to equipment or processes.
? Responsible for obtaining or generating documentation for new and modified production equipment.
? Training of operations and maintenance personnel on new or modified processes and equipment.
? Interact regularly with other groups within Aquion such as Pilot Operations, Battery Design, Quality and Product Design to act as a liaison among the groups
? Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
? BS Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or AS Degree in Engineering and relevant experience
? 5+ years of engineering experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
? Experience in machine design, selection, commissioning or troubleshooting.
? Good technical and analytical skills with the ability to solve problems/innovate.
? Good verbal, written, computer and organizational skills
? Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented
? Working knowledge of 3-D CAD software for machine design.
? Experience in use of Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
Desirable Qualifications:
? Experience in new plant startup or large industrial/automation projects
? Proficient with AutoCAD and Solidworks.
? Project Management experience.
? Working knowledge of OSHA regulations for machine safety and guarding.
Travel requirements:
Domestic and International Travel to suppliers, trade shows and other sites will be required on a variable basis.
