Project Manager International Catastrophe Insurance

The primary purpose of this position is to plan and manage the delivery of software development projects as well as other technical projects which support the annual and strategic objectives of ICAT. This position will have responsibility for planning, directing, and managing the activities pertaining to assigned projects and is responsible for project deliverables, cost, schedule and quality. The PM is responsible for managing the team which develops and actualizes the project, maintains control over the project and provides consistency in content and process during and across projects. The PM will act as the team's primary interface to the project sponsors, business and IT partners. Projects worked on will range in size from small to large and will have broad impact across the business and will require interaction with both internal and external partners.
Develop and maintain partnership with internal management and external clients, understand business strategies, objectives, needs and service expectations.
Consult with management and review project proposals to determine project objective and goals, timeframes, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, and required resources. Coordinate the recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
Creates and maintains project schedules by developing project plans and specifications, estimating time requirements, establishing deadlines, monitoring milestone completion, tracking all phases of the project product/service lifecycle, providing timely reporting of issues that impact project progress, coordinating actions, and resolving conflicts
Manage the team to formulate and define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
Develop, adjust and monitor project plans specifying goals, strategy, scheduling, risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources.
Assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project team members.
Direct and coordinate activities of the project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
Facilitate communication within the project team as well as with external contracts.
Obtain and maintain project commitment from team members and stakeholders.
Review and prepare project status reports to keep management informed of project status and related issues.
Provide leadership, motivation and mentoring to project team members throughout the project's life cycle. Confer with project personnel to provide project direction, advice, and to resolve problems as they arise.
Uses established standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
Uses and manages established standards for risk management processes.
Uses and manages established standards for issue and change management processes.
Establish, gain approval, and manage ongoing project budget.
Works under the general supervision of Project Management Office Manager and provides direction to exempt and non-exempt personnel.

5+ years experience providing software development project management leadership.
3+ years experience in managing cross-functional (business / technology) efforts.
3+ years experience in business analysis and business requirement gathering.
Proven project management and leadership skills.
PMP certification preferred
BA degree in business or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
MS Office and MS Project or other Project Management software/tools.
Knowledge of business requirements gathering and documentation tools and reporting tools.
Physical Work Demands
Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis.
Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone.
Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Mental Work Demands
Regular and on-time attendance.
Hours regularly exceed 40 hours per week.
Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
