Project Manager / Business Analyst Carnegie Learning
As a member of the product team, the PM/BA will collaborate on innovative solutions with other software engineers, cognitive scientists, quality assurance engineers, project managers, interface designers, math editors and educators to develop best of breed instructional tools on schedule and on budget. The PM/BA is a critical liaison between development and the stakeholders in other internal departments as well as external customers.
The PM/BA will drive feature definition through requirements and design specification for new mathematical content and new features in the Cognitive Tutor and Teacher?s Toolkit software products and enabling technologies. Responsibilities in this role include:
Identify and analyze strategic and tactical information from a variety of sources, including internal and external research and market requirements and users; synthesize to inform and validate feature requirements, propose solutions and generate detailed specifications
Analyze production usage and survey data to identify and contribute to continuous improvement of products and internal processes, with emphasis on improving learning efficiency for our customers
Coordinate and communicate effectively with stakeholders and external customers, including active listening, expectation setting, and a keen ability to identify motivations and separate wants from needs
Own, drive, deliver and maintain design documentation including requirements, use cases, process diagrams, user interface design, detailed functional specifications
Contribute to and review test scope and detailed test cases, up to and including some test execution to ensure a quality product that meets stated objectives
Contribute to and review customer support and training material to facilitate successful product adoption
Manage to schedules and prioritize across and within projects to maximize business impact
Make depth versus breadth tradeoffs within projects to enable efficient development processes and resource loading
Key skills for the successful PM/BA include strong ability to:
Specify, extend and validate clear, concise and unambiguous functional requirements via use case scenarios and detailed design documents
Identify, define and analyze process related business rules and requirements

Collaborate with technical teams to understand technical limitations and challenges, propose alternatives, and evaluate tradeoffs

Requirements:
BS degree in the areas of Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Education Technology, Math or related field required (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience defining, describing and documenting complex functionality in sufficient detail to enable successful software development
Strong background and affinity for mathematics at the middle school and high school levels, with some collegiate level math experience
Demonstrated ability to lead small teams to clarify ambiguous objectives and deliver results
Experience with complete software development lifecycle, including requirement assessment and QA testing is desired
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to plan and manage projects at a task level for self and other resources
