Project Manager SANpulse
Basic Duties
The SANpulse Project Manager's primary job is to ensure the success of SANpulse projects by minimizing risk throughout the lifetime of the project. Supported by a team of SAN experts and the SANlogics software, the SANpulse Project Manager is ultimately responsible for minimizing project risks through accurate scoping and development of SANpulse projects as well as providing the successful architectural design, implementation and technical management of all SANlogics solutions. Responsible for the execution of a project schedule created with and agreed to by our customers, the SANpulse Project Manager works with the support of a Pre-Sales Systems Engineer and a Senior SANlogics Architect on multiple enterprise accounts in a geographic region and receives general direction from a Delivery Manager.
We are looking for someone who has been there and done that in the data center. The ideal candidate has gained experience through the successful delivery of complex projects. The incumbent will be able to facilitate SANpulse projects from data gathering and project scoping to ensuring customer site is prepared for our solution to implementing the SANlogics solution to defining test criteria as well as being the 1st level of engagement and escalation for several SANpulse projects.
Role and Responsibility
The person chosen will ultimately be responsible for the following:

Working with directors, managers, and administrators within the major technology business verticals to build relationships & manage expectations

Definition of technical proposals, challenges and scope

Working with the Sales team to develop SOWs based on the SANpulse System Engineers proposed architecture

Creation of project plans for SANpulse customers based upon customer defined timelines

Managing the design and implementation of SAN optimization projects
-
Effectively structure and manage SANpulse, customer and vendor project teams

Implementing the SANlogics environment running version 2.x
-
Keeping up-to date on standards, best practices, procedures and policies for the SANlogics hardware and software

Tracking and reporting completion of project activities including, but not limited to, the following:
- Collecting required source and target environmental data from vendors and customers
- Verifying compatibility and supportability of targeted hardware and software
- Site preparation for upcoming SAN optimization projects (foundation building)
- Acquiring, installing, configuring and fine tuning the physical SANlogics application servers
- Installing and configuring the SANlogics application and embedded utilities
- Developing canned and custom reports and other required documentation
- Defining and developing SANlogics modules as required to meet project objectives
- Maintaining the operational health of the SANlogics infrastructure and the modules within it
- Defining issues in the production environment for mission critical system issues

Escalating hardware and software related issues that cannot be resolved in-house

Providing escalation support for design and implementation issues and driving 3rd level support to resolve technical challenges with any SAN Logic deployments

Ensuring the successful completion of required deliverables and securing associated milestones

Development of project summary, executive presentations and technical reports
Experience, Knowledge and Abilities
Experience: 5-8 years of project management experience in an enterprise information technology environment with open systems, fiber channel and IP networks, storage arrays, replication technologies, volume and file system management products and backup solutions.
Required and Desirable Traits: Expert understanding of project management methodologies and processes is required. Analytical, design, engineering, planning and problem solving skills are a necessity. Must be an out-of-the-box thinker driven to lower customer costs using a blend of conventional and non-conventional solutions. Should have an understanding of current industry trends in data storage.
Strong project delivery skills such as presentation, documentation, communication, writing and a hardworking attitude are a must. Strong interpersonal communication skills are required. Ability to manage multiple projects with limited resources necessary. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Bachelors degree preferred in a related discipline.
Financial industry experience a strong plus.

Determining appropriate revenue recognition, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, and monitoring receivables for projects

Following up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices

Analyzing project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization
Financial Management

Understanding SANpulse revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and making decisions accordingly
-
Understanding SANpulse pricing model and billing procedures

Accurately forecasting revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilization

Assuring project legal documents are completed and signed
Business Development

Identifying business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project
-
Leading proposal efforts including completing project scoping and LOE assessments
-
Effectively conveying our value message in both written and verbal business discussions
Communication

Facilitating team and client meetings effectively

Holding regular status meetings with project team

Keeping project team well informed of changes within the organization and general news

Effectively communicating relevant project information to internal and customer management

Delivering engaging, informative, well-organized presentations

Resolving and/or escalating issues in a timely fashion

Understanding how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
Technical Understanding
