Project Manager Flat World Knowledge

We are seeking an expert-level Project Manager to join our team implementing our next-generation Open Textbook engine as a core component of our existing open textbook platforms. run project management and contribute to our product roadmap for our new open textbook platforms, developed in Python and XML. You are experienced:-

- Running project management for back-end production systems
- In translating between business and technology teams
- in rolling up your sleeves and hacking SQL and XML

The role will report to and collaborate with CTO to deliver the next iteration of our digital-based platform for open textbooks, replacing existing system that manages custom book content for consumer/student delivery, including delivery of content for sale in multiple formats, including eReaders (i.e. iPad, Kindle, etc.). You will serve as the key link between business and technology, and will derive, document, communicate, promote, and continuously refine product vision and roadmap supporting our business goals, objectives, and expectations.
Requirements:

- Experience in project management for building and maintaining back-end systems, on a Linux platform in a mixed open-source environment.
- (optional) Experience in Python &/or Ruby, and MySQL
- (optional) Experience with XML repositories, DocBook XML and XSL
- Comfortable with a start-up environment, agile practices, web-savvy business teams, and many tasks / responsibilities.
