The Proposal Writer is responsible for preparing winning proposals and RFP responses that comply with company brand and positioning, customer guidelines, and contractual and legal requirements, all within tight deadlines. This position requires an assertive leadership capability in guiding ad hoc teams to on-time delivery of quality proposals.
Responsibilities
The New York based Proposal Writer performs writing tasks, including writing technical documents within bids and proposals, including technical matrices and narratives that reflect the detailed capabilities of the Schoolnet product, our award-winning suite of data-driven education software. Schoolnet is the only unified solution to align student assessment, curriculum and instruction; guide collaborative, data-informed discussion; and enable targeted instruction for every student.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
60% - Coordinate all aspects of the proposal development and submission processes for complex sales initiatives involving multiple sales teams, services and products.
Determine and facilitate all requirements and manage the completion of forms and materials though all the proper reviews. Schedule RFP review meetings; create responsibility matrix to ensure consistent communication; ensure RFP response is customized to customer?s requirements.
Ensure that written proposals adhere to the guidelines set forth by customers. Develop engaging, effective written styles and formats.
Coordinate contract language with Customer legal departments; prepare both large and small RFP?s at the State and Local level. Develop boilerplate and re-use material library to supplement proposal responses.
Continually improve the proposal development process and communication within the company. Search for new, better ways to develop proposals and respond to RFPs.
20% - Maintain an online Proposals/RFP knowledgebase and proposal-sharing website, and other sales support tools as required.
5% - Contribute to proposal development training programs to ensure consistency and quality of proposals.
5% - Assist with win/loss reviews.
10% - Other Sales Operations activities as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills/knowledge/abilities ?
Exceptional analytical, organizational, technical writing and verbal communication skills are essential for successful performance in this position.
Extensive knowledge of Pearson products and services preferred
Project management experience and ability to coordinate multiple departments.
Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, and Word proficiency.
Must be detailed oriented and demonstrate good organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Ability to assertively steer bid decisions in the best interests of the business
Extensive knowledge of computer software products including MS Office products. Experience with desktop publishing or project management software a plus.
Bachelor?s degree required. English degree preferred & New York location preferred.
Minimum four years experience with education RFPs. Legal, marketing and/or accounting work helpful.
