The Job
Responsibilities
- Manage advanced welding, component assembly, and integration of the Merlin rocket engine.
- Manage shop floor activity including daily schedules and workflow.
- Resolve nonconformance issues.
- Lead and manage a staff of 20+ welding and propulsion technicians
- Review work instructions and making change recommendations when needed
- Meeting tight production schedules
- Responsible for staffing and vetting the appropriate skillset needed
- Assessing and reviewing current staff
- Monitor material costs and cost savings
- Identifying and set-up of training programs
- Monitor labor hours and overtime
- Implement improvement plans and time management
Requirements
- B.S. in an engineering field or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 5 years in welding or complex assembly and production, in aviation, automotive, or systems with comparable complexity and high reliability.
- Minimum of 1 years in a leadership role required
- Experience applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methods required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience bringing teams and processes from low rate initial production to full rate production.
- Experience with the maintenance of GTA and EB Welding Equipment
- Knowledge and experience working to Industry Welding Codes (AWS D1.1, D17.1, etc.)
- Familiar with weld non-destructive evaluation techniques
