We are seeking a Public Relations Specialist that will plan and execute on day-to-day public relations activities aligned with TOA?s marketing and communications strategies.
S/he will drive coordinated PR campaigns and create content to support them, such as news releases, pitches and social content. Within the PR team, the Public Relations Specialist is the primary contact responsible for the management and execution of media relations and social media relations, both proactive and reactive.
S/he is responsible for tracking and measuring PR activities in order to maximize how the PR-generated content is used, while also proving the value of PR for TOA.
The Public Relations Specialist will work closely with internal (lead generation, executives, sales) and external resources (customers, partners) on a regular basis. Therefore, exceptional people and communication skills are necessary to succeed in this role.
Responsibilities
Maintain and execute the media relations program; includes developing targeted media lists and managing the relationships, both proactively and reactively
Execute media opportunities from start-to-finish, coordinating with partners, customers and TOA executives and subject matter experts to set up, prep and hold the interview, follow up with the media, and ensure that the content is appropriately tracked and communicated internally and externally once complete
Develop a social media strategy, from creating content for corporate social accounts and empowering subject matter experts on social channels to building relationships with relevant social media influencers and participating in targeted communities
Become a brand champion and spokesperson by knowing the ins and outs of TOA?s business and how to best position it externally
Assist with maintaining and evolving corporate messaging and creating a consistent voice for TOA internally and externally
Active monitoring of the TOA brand and TOA?s market in order to both escalate potential issues and crises as well to identify market trends and opportunities to position TOA in the ?second paragraph? of a story
Requirements
Bachelor?s degree in public relations, journalism, English, marketing, communications or another relevant discipline
Two to three years of public relations experience in an agency and/or corporate setting
Excellent verbal and written skills, proven to successfully target a range of audiences ? internal, media, prospects, customers, technology partners, etc. ? across a variety of formats ? blogs, news releases, social media, etc.
A strategic and proactive thinker with proven tactical execution
Able to take highly technical information and develop it into newsworthy angles and content that is both easily understood and relevant to the success of the business
Strong people skills, easily able to get buy-in from, work with and develop executives and other subject matter experts
Supportive of confidentiality
Experience
Experience in a B2B and/or technology environment
Background in both domestic and international marketing/communications principles
Track record of managing and executing PR tactics ? news releases, media pitches, social media content
Proven success in national and trade media relations
A public relations expert with the confidence to be an advocate internally for public relations strategies and tactics
Skilled in tracking, measuring and reporting PR metrics
Understanding of the principles of spokesperson training
Involvement in successfully managing crisis situations
