We are working with more and more social data publishers (e.g., Tumblr, Twitter, Disqus) who are choosing to make their data available to Gnip's customer ecosystem. The Publisher Integration Manager role will be focused on helping us understand and evaluate the characteristics of each new publisher data source. This role will help scope and define the technical elements of how a new data source will be integrated into our products. A successful candidate will accelerate the speed at which Gnip can bring more data to our customers.
Self directed; independent
3+ years of software development experience, preferably in environments that deliver product on the web
Solid understanding of today's public data access APIs (protocols, formats, best practices)
Demonstrated competency with common scripting language tools of your choice (Python, Perl, whatever suits you best)
Firm grasp of how social media is created (from the end-user's perspective, as well as the Publisher's)
Strong technical writing skills Interest and ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas in simple language to customers
Experience working in an Agile development environment preferred
Bonus Points: Fluency in any of the following foreign languages ? Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin)
Create simple tools to programmatically gather sample data from social network APIs
Assist publisher business development efforts by quantitatively evaluating the relevancy of a new publisher data source to Gnip's customer base
Collaborate with the Data Science team to uncover and highlight the unique characteristics of new data sources that matter to Gnip customers
Analyze new publisher data formats for compatibility with Gnip's existing standards
Work with engineering team to transform data according to Gnip's established formats
Evaluate ingestion models for new publisher sources to understand scope of integrating with Gnip's existing system
Understand and document different social activities and data payload elements for development team and future customers
Create technical documentation to help customers and Gnip team members understand the characteristics of a new data source and best practices for integrating it
Assist the technical customer team at Gnip with customer onboarding and support issues related to new publisher sources
Highly collaborative (open work area). Agile work environment. Engineering & Product are tightly coupled and interact all the time.
Weekly iterations, daily stand-ups, bi-weekly (every two weeks) system deploys.
