The Commodity Manager for Semi-Conductors is responsible for leveraging supplier?s technical and commercial expertise to benefit the engineering and competitive advantage of Aliph (Jawbone) consumer products and technologies. With experience and judgment to build and maintain strategic relationships at all levels in supplier organizations, the Commodity Manager will be responsible for continuous supply of all required materials within specification as well as cost and quality parameters to meet product technology and manufacturing needs. The Commodity Manager will be the point of contact between elements of Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality for managing critical components and technologies with suppliers.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Engineering and NPI teams on product roadmap and advanced technology requirements
Assess supplier capabilities in areas of process technology, roadmaps, capacity planning, cost/performance, and long term relationships and strategy. Apply Supplier Selection process in choosing strategic partners.
Knowledge of production, material and labor costs, manufacturing process methods, product functionality, quality criteria and delivery schedules for commodity managed.
Conduct Contract negotiations with primary and secondary suppliers
Manage costs during product development and sustaining production phases to support financial goals and objectives
Manage cost reduction opportunities through benchmarking, process/technology improvements, supplier negotiations and supplier partnerships
Manage business review metrics with strategic suppliers and internal cross-functional teams
Communicate to Aliph Senior Management key supplier road map and technology strategies working closely with our strategic technology/engineering teams and architects
Build collaborative relationships at multiple organizational levels
Participate in/support the development and execution of Procurement strategies to meet the business objectives
Drive continuous improvement programs across area of responsibility
Think strategically and plan tactically
Champion organization values and objectives
Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrate subject matter expertise in supply management concepts
Understands the corporate business plan and his/her role in supporting it
Exemplify effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage conflicting deadlines and work effectively in a dynamic environment
Apply effective project management and change management techniques
Supplier relationship management and sourcing methodology expertise
Work with accountability and integrity, meet commitments
Education and Professional Experience:
BA/BS in Supply Chain management, Engineering or related field
12 -15 years experience buying silicon-based components and advanced technologies: IC?s, memory, crystals, BT chips, CODEC and others
Extensive experience working with fast-paced, new product introductions
Demonstrates a successful record managing large-scale project execution while meeting delivery and cost requirements
Experience developing and implementing supplier selection process and technical staff
Multi-lingual and multicultural awareness, moves seamlessly between cultures and knows how to conduct business in various cultures and countries.
