Purification Process Development Scientist Genocea Biosciences, Inc.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Purification Process Development Scientist to contribute to the process development of protein-based vaccines for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases with significant impacts on human health.
Knowledge of and experience with chromatographic separation approaches and AKTA systems. Microplate resin screening experience is a plus.
Experience with other separation technologies such as centrifugation, dead-end filtration and TFF unit operations.
Excellent protein biochemistry training and hands-on experience with routine test methods (protein assays, gels/westerns, ELISAs, etc)
Experience with DOE approach to process optimization.
Experience with scale-up and GMP manufacturing considerations is preferred.
Knowledge of regulations related to biologics manufacturing and testing.
Must work well within a fast-paced, dynamic and team-oriented start-up environment.
Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Good presentation and writing skills are a plus.
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Biochemical Engg ? 3 years of experience in downstream process development.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in industry in a biologics process development setting employing multiple production systems (e.g. E. coli, yeast, mammalian and insect cells)
Vaccines experience is a plus.
Proven expertise in chromatographic separations is essential. A strong background in protein biochemistry with an excellent understanding of and experience with chromatographic resin screening (plate- and column-based) and process optimization are required. Experience with scale-up and GMP manufacturing considerations is preferred. This position also requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. The expected ratio of lab work to managerial responsibilities will be in the 80:20 range.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Develop downstream processes utilizing current chromatography and filtration modalities.
Optimize existing processes to improve product yield, robustness and impurity profiles.
Document work in notebooks and technical reports.
Prepare presentations for team meetings.
Interface with Process Development team and other functions within the Development department.
