The QA Analyst works with software engineers, software engineers in test, and managers to design the test approach to ensure our software products match specifications and meet or exceed market and customer needs. You will follow test plans to write test cases and complete manual and automated testing to ensure overall product quality. Additionally, you support overall product documentation.
WHO ARE YOU?
Test Planning and Design
Participates in test planning and provides input on user acceptance criteria
Provides feedback to Software Engineers on features or changes and usability metrics to enhance the customer experience
Reads test plans and test cases and provides feedback to ensure coverage of specific features or areas of the product according to requirements and user acceptance criteria
Writes and checks own test cases for quality and submits test cases for review
Conducts systems set-up, and maintains test environments
Learns new test methodologies, with a strong focus on manual testing, internal frameworks and databases, and develops own understanding of software development and Vertafore products
Testing Implementation
Completes manual front-end user testing of features or aspects of products according to test plan; identifies opportunities for automation
Participates in code reviews and communicates with Software Engineers and Software Engineers in Test to ensure front-end test coverage based on their code changes
Identifies bugs or defects, troubleshoots issues, and verifies bug fixes; escalates potential issues that inhibit quality user experience
Contributes to triage sessions to help resolve bugs or defects in new code or during production; investigates customer requests as needed
Product Documentation and Maintenance
Documents test cases, test results, and release notes (as applicable); contributes to internal documentation throughout sprint cycle
Opens bugs based on issues found during testing and troubleshooting
Provides feedback on, uses, and updates documentation on user stories and work items
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
2+ years of quality assurance or development experience, implementing and shipping enterprise class products.
Thorough knowledge of Quality Assurance and Agile testing practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with automation test suites. (QTP, Selenium, etc.)
Good working knowledge of XML, Web Services, and SQL.
Knowledge of insurance industry a plus.
Understanding of Java technologies highly desirable.
