Kiva Systems, Inc. uses game-changing automation technology for distribution centers that helps companies simplify operations and reduce costs while increasing strategic flexibility. Using hundreds of autonomous mobile robots and sophisticated control software, the Kiva Mobile-robotic Fulfillment System enables extremely fast cycle times with reduced labor requirements, from receiving to picking to shipping.
The Kiva software team is developing a complex material handling software application for deployment in large-scale customer factory solutions. The fault-tolerant and scalable server-based application consists of many modules and user interfaces running across a set of client PCs. The application includes a high-performance, real-time database and is used for the control of semi-autonomous mobile robotic vehicles.
For our growing team, Kiva is seeking a talented and motivated Automation Engineer. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience using system-level automation tools and techniques, possess good communication skills, and enjoy problem solving both independently and in team settings. This candidate should be incredibly sharp and possess the desire, drive and energy that is needed to launch new products on short time lines. This position reports to the Director of QA and Tools.
As a Kiva System's Quality Engineer you will be responsible for:
Helping drive the Automation strategy throughout the Engineering organization
Build out a test suite to cover system-level automated smoke, regression and functional tests
Writing system and feature-based test plans from architectural functional specifications
Manually executing complex test plans with an understanding of how to build new coverage into the existing Automation test suite
Collaborate with development organization to understand how development changes affect ongoing Automation efforts
Provide test coverage analysis based on automation results
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
BS or MS Degree in CS/EE or equivalent
Excellent written and communication skills
Linux/Unix operating system knowledge and shell scripting (bash)
Minimum 2 years experience with Java and Java related unit testing environments (TestNG/JUnit)
Minimum 2 years experience with at least the following languages: Python and/or Jython
Working knowledge of Java Message Service (JMS), ApacheMQ, and Websphere MQ
Working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL) and SQL querying tools
Experience or firm knowledge of Service-orientated architecture (SOA)
Experience or firm knowledge of testing
